Thumbs down Why No More iTunes in Canada?

I noticed shortly after Movies Anywhere started, studios in Canada stopped releasing films with digital codes that supported iTunes.

The only ones in Canada that support iTunes anymore are Paramount and E-One I believe.

Or is this because of the free 4K upgrade in iTunes and they wanted more control over the resolution?

Either way, this change has really stopped me from buying hard-copy releases anymore.

Anyone else?

I’m assuming once UV is discontinued, everyone will move to Google Play (Universal and Fox, even Sony have started doing this). I don’t enjoy the experience on Google as much as iTunes, though.

Redeem codes have moved more towards Movies Anywhere redeems. Vudu and FandangoNow still allow redemption for many titles even through the inserts usually tell you to go to MA. I do think a large part of it is to avoid 'free' iTunes upgrades to UHD with code redemptions.

We seriously need something like Movies Anywhere up here.

I don’t see why they still can’t use iTunes for UHD films, they should still give us a code to redeem on the service we want.

Looks like everything is moving to GP though, sadly.

The AppleTV interface is just so much better.

Disney too, fortunately. Since soon they’ll own everything...

Google Play offers free upgrades to 4K now too.

Just make yourself less frustrated... stick to physical media. The digital world is increasingly user unfriendly and gets more and more frustrating. Own the disc and know that nothing is stopping you from enjoying everything that you want to watch.

This number is few and far between for most of us.

Also 9 times out of 10, if it ain't available on physical copy, it sure as hell isn't available digitally for ownership.

In Canada ... physical media is still king and looks like it will remain that way indefinitely.
