Disney GARGOYLES (Disney +)

The Spell Is Broken.......

Quote:
Almost 30 years after first appearing as an animated television series, Gargoyles is taking flight once more, this time in live-action.

Two major names in the creature feature business, Gary Dauberman and James Wan’s Atomic Monster banner, known for their collaborations on the hit Annabelle horror movies, have teamed up to remake the 1990s cartoon as a live-action series for Disney+.

Dauberman will write, executive produce and showrun the series with Atomic Monster, the company run by Wan and Michael Clear, joining the executive producing ranks.

Gargoyles was such an interesting thing to see happen as it came out. I remember really enjoying it as a kid. The gist of the characters and their general motivations. Always have had it in my head that a live action thing could be pretty amazing if done w/ the right tone and acceptance of going all into what those characters are.

Never got a toy of it. Those Neca brand ones look pretty cool though.

Oh wow definitely curious as to how this turns out. Live action huh? Hoping this means there’s a chance Keith David could still voice Goliath! Though I totally get it if not.

I'm surprised that Bluey didn't get the live action treatment first.

If this had been announced 10 years ago I might have been excited for it. Given their track record lately as well as the names attached to the project, I am... concerned. This seems more like a desperate gamble taken a company that has finally acknowledged they are on a downward spiral.

The Good, I loved Gargoyles and it still holds up today, one of the best animated kids shows of all time. The bad, it going to be made by modern day Disney expect hamfisted agendas to be shoehorned into it

I rather this get put on the back burner for a while, maybe even a few years until the purge is complete.

The negativity around here, gee. I digress. Live action adaptations of these sorts of shows are so wildly hit-or-miss, it's anybody's ball game how things will turn out.

It's about trust, and right now most don't trust current Disney. They've burnt a lot of good will recently

I have a different outlook. Disney operates multiple studios, spanning a variety of genres. Who to pin a flop on, is rarely clear to me.

Sometimes fans are right on the nose. There's no downplaying the faults of Rise of Skywalker.

In other instances the criticism is misdirected in my opinion. Lightyear was an uneven film, for its running time and plot twists. (whereas I took no issue with the controversial kiss scene)
