I watched this film last night and I would not recommend it. An interesting premise, but completely squandered in the second half. I found so much of it not consistent with its own rules, pointless or just unconvincing. It annoyed the hell out of me.
Also, I'm not sure if the film is supposed to look like that or if Curzon messed something up on their Blu-ray release, but it's really unpleasant to look at at times, especially during its colourful finale. |

I had a similar experience with another korean horror film from this year called Exhuma. The premise was interesting, there was a good sense of dread in the beginning, but then the film became messy and was all over the place, especially in the 2nd half. And it took a good time to finish, over 2 hours, by the end I couldn't take it anymore lol.
It got excellent reviews tho, everyone seemed to like it. It just wasn't my cup of tea at all. |

I have Exhuma coming in a few days, I hope I'm going to be among those who like it. I did love both of the director's previous films (and the short that was later expanded into his first feature film was not bad either), so disliking his latest would be quite a disappointment.

I'm sure you'll like it, most did.
And I saw Sleep this afternoon. Your post got me curious lol. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it either. Overall I thought it was a more consistent film than Exhuma. And I agree that the colours looked a little off, too warm at times. Not sure if that's the look the director was aiming for. |

I didn't hate Exhuma but I understand what you mean as I was disappointed by the last 3rd of the movie. I think it did a great job with the buildup and setting the mood but didn't stick the landing. I still don't think it's bad but it's definitely no Wailing.
