I was gonna put in my two cents on the matter but I figure that it won't be such a good idea at this point.

Am I the only one that thought Blade Runner when they saw the title?

I mean, this movie just deals with friendships and awkwardness of being the odd man out. I don't see what negative thoughts you could have over such a simplistic plot/storyline.

Well, I've been in that particular odd man out situation myself but never felt any of the paranoia, fear or seclusion described. We all had a smashing great time whenever we all meet up.

That was what I was essentially going to say.

That's very lucky for you. I'd wager to say you're in the extreme minority in that one. Most people suffer from varying levels of social awkwardness. I know I've been the "lone man out" many many times, and I usually end up just sitting on my phone by myself and wishing I weren't there. It's a horrible feeling. Add a bunch of alcohol and testosterone, and I can absolutely understand how it could turn into a nightmare real quick.

From that's been described about this, it has the fear of white people perception vibe that Get Out was said to have. That was why I was hesitant to say anything about it as I said, I've been in said setting and never experienced anything that this film is presenting.
And as for that "alcohol and testosterone thing, I wouldn't automatically apply it to every situation.

But that's exactly what happens in this movie. That's why I brought it up.

And the racial tension is present, but never beat over your head. It's more so the fact that he is surrounded by 10 people he doesn't know, in a remote area that he's not familiar with. It's more so about just being out of your comfort zone regardless of what factors cause that.

I wanted to see this at Sundance, but couldn't due to time restraints. Hopefully, it will get a Blu-ray release, because I doubt it will get a theatrical release in my city. Glad you liked it jacobsever!

Well, the film succeeds at making the viewer uncomfortable. To what extent varies from person to person. As one reviewer put it, Tyrel is essentially Microaggressions: The Movie. 3.5/5
