Should I sell my car, if so , for how much?

What do you guys think? bought for $4000, had s/c, lim, valve cover gaskets replaced, Dropped the pan, new filter , Trans go shift kit , new axles, new rear shocks, Intense stage one kit w 3.4 pulley, JVC arsenal double din, aeroforce scan gauge, brand new Bridgestone Turanza Serenity tires , ( 500 miles ) .. Very clean inside and out, 171K miles

I love the car, but its just to unpractical for me at the moment.. SO its all bad timing
But really what I was getting at, is with the condition of the car, the investments and parts I replaced and the 'extras' is $6000 asking to much?

How many miles does it have and what year is your car? It looks like it is in good condition so $5,000-$6,000 should be good enough

I think $6K may be a bit of a stretch. It's unlikely that you'll be able to recuperate much from your investment. The major negative is the high mileage: the asking price around here for a similar vehicle from dealers and private sellers is ~$5K. If you had ~50K fewer miles on the odometer, I think $6K is well within reason.

You can try $5500 as a starting point, but don't be surprised if your counter-offer is anywhere from $4500-5000.

I agree 6 is a big stretch. I always undervalue what I have and hopefully I get a nice surprise if things become worth more than I thought.

When you make upgrades like that... you really have to do it for yourself, as they rarely do anything to actually increase the market value of the car. The average used car buyer just doesn't care enough about such things to pay anything over blue book value for them.

Was really hoping that it was the red truck that was for sale, might have gotten a buyer. The high miles are a downer, but looks like you cleaned it well which is my 1st impression if I happen to be lookin' at a used car for a friend. Lots of new parts also a plus.

Whoops, I missed the 171k miles part, well, I think you should sell it for $5,000, not more than that due to the miles

I think you will get a hard time getting $4000 out of it with those miles..ask $5000 but you may not get many bites

I bought my 98 GP with 96,000 in awesome condition for $3000 4 years ago.

How is it impractical? Looks like a four door sedan to me. Unless you live in a place that requires a 4x4 constantly I don't understand the logic. When you sell a car with that high of mileage you really cut down on your potential buyers. It will take someone looking for that specific car in most cases or someone just looking for a steal. I don't think at 6k you will be attracting the people looking for a steal.

What is the make and model? (Pontiac GP?) and the year??

Do a KBB for it with 171K miles in "excellent" (even if that is possible) condition, and you'll probably find that it's basically worth very little.

You put a lot of cash into it, and that's good for your purposes, but I'm surprised a Pontiac engine lasted 170K miles to begin with. Finding someone willing to spend that kind of money on something like this with that many miles would be a miracle I think.
