At this rate there is going to be at least 13-14 sets since it's a 366 episode series! Get your wallets ready, this one is going to be a doozy.

Shouldn't the title of this thread say 'Jul' rather than 'Aug'? Anyways, this is great news. Will get me a reason to watch beyond episode 30 haha.

Might get the first two or three sets one day as the first 60 or so episodes still hold up.

Yes, it should! My bad. I don't see a way for me to be able to edit the title. Hopefully a nice mod like Neoz can assist!

Fuuuuuuuggg!

Good thing I didn't get those DVDs last Christmas!

It'll be a while before they get to eps I haven't seen though I'm not really looking to re-watch 200+ episodes.

Does this mark some hope for Naruto BDs at some point down the line? Haha.

With series like this though, where there is a lot of filler, they should be given the Dragon Ball Kai treatment before getting Blu-ray releases in my opinion.

Totally, man. I was thinking the same thing. This series could use a serious trimming of the fat. It could probably be condensed down to an awesome 160-180 episode series. I will buy it all over again if they are smart enough to publish a condensed series as well!

It's easier if you send him a PM. 27 episodes in how many discs for this set?

Four discs.

7-7-7-6 would fit Viz Blu-ray patterns.

It's going to be an upscale. The entirety of it. I had a look at one of the last episodes on CR and it's definitely not a HD production.
Like Fairy Tail's first season (175 episodes), it's animated in SD and upscaled for broadcast.

Probably will pick up the first 3 sets down the line. Loved the show up to them rescuing Rukia. Went down hill from there with the dragged out plot (still going) and filler upon filler every other season.

Hope they do the same thing for Naruto.

This. I'm concerned that it isn't going to look good at all. Some upscaling when done correctly can look good, but the early episodes of Bleach are just so ugly. Could they not just release SD BDs that take advantage of BD's higher bitrate capabilities and better audio?

Was not expecting this sort of announcement. I'm going to remain cautious as no BD's exist for the series in Japan, and we've seen in the past how wrong these can go (Ex: Fairy Tail (When those first came out, videophiles I know bashed them as not so good FUNi upscales)). Plus I've seen too many bad upscales/remasters before from both NA and Japan. Also wonder how this will compare packaging-wise to the original digipaks for the first 3 sets. Really wish VIZ kept going with those, you ended up getting all the Japanese DVD artwork that way, those sets were so nice.

Well one good thing will probably come out of this, those 16:9 episodes VIZ cropped to 4:3 for one reason will probably finally be in their original aspect ratio finally.

Also for those wondering about if it was ever animated in HD, there's to consider.

A good upscale, rare as they may be, is still better than SD on BD. They're not going to do SD BD for a property like Bleach. It's a far different monster than Samurai Pizza Cats
