Great news. Now if only a blu ray edition of The Tenant is released then my collection will be graced.

Heres to hoping the BFI release is just a direct port from the french release. That near perfect across the board score has got me all hot and bothered :P

I think it's safe to say there's zero chance the BFI will have French forced subtitles!

Derp -.- of course it won't have french forced subs. I didn't mean THAT direct of a port lol Obviously subtitles will have to be adjusted or removable to cater to us seeing as it will be released into a primarily english speaking market.

Much worse extras than the French release I believe and only in SD.

Read in the thread here Criterion are rumoured to be releasing it. Will be RA locked but guaranteed to be better extras and in HD.

And I did not think you were, James

I only pointed out that the supplemental features were detailed a long time ago.

I cancelled my preorder. With the extras not on the BD but on a DVD disc, it is not worth buying this. I shall wait for another release; I am hoping for a release that contains the extras on the single disc. It is very likely to see other releases of this, since it's a bit stupid to spend a lot of effort in a 4k remaster process and not release it everywhere.

This is a very strange decision.

What good is having extras that were not produced in HD on BD.

If this release looks nearly as good as the French release, I would argue that it is very much worth owning.

Thus far the French release of Tess is one of the year's best releases.

Perhaps you could wait for a U.S. release, but the 4K restoration of Tess is sensational. Believe me

Is this Region Free and does it have forced subtitles?

Edit: It's not out yet :/

Double Edit: Please PM me with details because I don't check the foreign forum frequently and I have a feeling I will forget lol.

The picture quality of TESS is splendid. A vast improvement on the DVD and the Blu-ray at last restores the appearance of the film to something like how I remember it when it was first released in a 70mm blow-up. A pity though, that it doesn't have the original Overture music and Intermission.
