Nice!
Love me some Asterix, only wish he was a little bit more well-known here in the US.

Was hoping this was going to get some kind of release in the states, trailers made this look pretty fun.

Oh wow I haven’t read these comics since I was a kid. Didn’t know they were still popular.

I believe this is the second modern version of Atérix (3D) I own the blu-ray of Astérix et le Domaine des Dieux. (mansion of gods) I wish it was available on amazon it's kind of hard to justify the high shipping price for only one movie... I always have a few titles on my amazon.fr basket so it's easier to pull the trigger for 4-5 or more movies. If anyone do a group buy LMK.

Available on Amazon France now by the way (if Fnac doesn't say their version is exclusive, you can be sure Amazon will eventually list it):

https://www.amazon.fr/Asterix-Le-secret-de-la-potion-magique-4K-Blu-ray/dp/B07N3P59Z4

Yeah the thread should be renamed 4K + 3D now!
I was literally praying for months that they would release the 3D, and was so disappointed when only a standard blu-ray pre-order appeared a while back.
I just hope M6 Video don't mess up the encoding (spoiler: they very well might).

Thanks, I'll wait just in case we get it in Canada. We had Astérix et le Domaines des Dieux on Blu-ray, I can't see why we wouldn't get this one.

They do love these 4K + 3D combos in France, don't they? Sony and Universal (basically the same entity in West European distribution terms) have put out quite a few recently.

My dad use to read the comic series plus Tintin and he would give them to me after reading them. Damn I am getting old.

Yeah it's pretty great considering the prices are basically always fair. IMO Warner France have pioneered this - since 2017, all (non-exclusive!) 4K + 3D Steelbooks: King Arthur, Justice League, Tomb Raider, Rampage, The Meg, The Crimes of Grindelwald, Aquaman, and counting...

Yeah, they've done a bunch of them and Sony/Uni have picked up that ball in recent times e.g. Jumanji 2, BR2049, HTTYD 1 + 2, Mortal Engines, it's all rather spiffy.

Yeah M6 Video basically never put English subtitles on their 4K/3D releases, even when the film is originally English! They probably won't include any English audio on this edition either, based on their previous release of Asterix and Obelix: Mansion of the Gods (Astérix: Le Domaine des Dieux); the English dub may not even be completed in time.

Australia and/or the UK will probably get English blu-ray editions after their theatrical release dates (May and August 2019 respectively), but who knows if either will include 4K or 3D (probably not 4K+3D at any rate). The UK finally got a 3D release of the previous film almost 2 years after the French, but that was only because the UK theatrical release was almost 2 years late (despite the English dub being released on disc over a year before that in Canada).

I'm still shocked that this title was prepared for 4K (first French animation getting HDR that I'm aware of), and glad that the 3D is coming to disc at all (most French cinemas skipped 3D screenings altogether).

I would love a nice blu-ray of Astérix & Obélix: Mission Cléopâtre (2002) with english (or dutch) subtitles
It's the only live action movie I liked.

That's unlikely as even France didn't get a Blu-ray! Unless they somehow do a reboot with the same faces that warrants a re-release of the original. You can probably stream it in HD with English subtitles somewhere; I was able to get the German blu-ray as subtitles aren't forced and I understand French, but yeah the situation is absurd as the film was a hit.

Germany has a Blu-ray of Mission Cleopatra, but there's no English on it.
