I saw the film this morning in Dolby Cinema. I don't know if it was simply because it was the first show of the day in the Dolby Cinema auditorium and someone had the volume set too high, but this film had quite possibly the loudest, most intense soundtrack I've ever heard in a cinema. Think of the gun battle scene in Heat, but far, far longer, and you have the idea of what the Amtos audio is like for John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum.
The action and gun battles in this are simply insane. However, I almost feel like telling people to buy the DVD (or wait for TV), because I feel like anyone who watches the film with a lossless Dolby Atmos track is going to have their neighbors calling the police out of sheer terror. Well, most of the violence is ridiculously OTT gun battles and fights, but I am surprised the BBFC let the
[Show spoiler] pass at 15. Apparently, that has been censored for the Australian MA15+ version, even though the previous film (which, of course, was cut for its UK theatrical release at 15 and is 18 uncut) was passed uncut there at the same rating. That's the one good thing about the MPAA these days, you can get tons of bloody action violence into an R-rated film with no cuts. |

The irony is of course that it wasn't any of the gun battles and associated combative violence which led to the BBFC offering a cut 15 or uncut 18 for JW2, it was all about the blood-letting in the suicide scene! It's like '101 Ways to Kill your Enemies' gets a pass but "One way to kill yourself" is verboten.

Dude, when even headbutts and earclaps were out of bounds for a '15' then the mind does indeed boggle at how badly the Wick movies would've been shredded at the height of the Ferman era.
