Despite the 38% RT score, this still looks better visually than the two live-action/CG-animated Smurfs films.

Going to see it this Tuesday on Cheapie Tuesday I have not seen nor do I have any desire to see the first two films. I grew up reading Peyo's "Les Schtroumpfs" bandes dessinées and watching the '80s TV show (in French) and I'm very much looking forward to catching a showing of this little film

This one looks pretty interesting visually. Is this a completely new take on the Smurfs or is it a sequel to the two previous smurf movies?

New take

I really enjoyed this. The 3D was amazing. So stupid the movie cash won't work for 3D tickets.

Thanks. Probably won't see it in theaters, but I'm looking forward to seeing this on 3D blu-ray.

Saw this Saturday. Very cute and fun little film. I don't think it deserves the mediocre reception it's been getting by critics. (Or the weak box office numbers, too.)

I enjoyed it. I just wish Nosey had been used some more, as it was hilarious every time he showed up. Definitely not very large crowds in this area though. We went to a 12:00 PM showing on Sunday and there was barely anyone in there.

I saw this with my son this past weekend, it was not great, but it was still fun and certainly miles ahead of the last two films. I feel like they could have spent more time in the actual "lost village", but I liked how they called back to the original series (with Smurfette being a created Smurf).

VideoETA has listed Smurfs: The Lost Village for July 11th! For some reason, they are only listing the "Blu-ray + Digital" version...

I think Sony realizes that the smurfs bombed in the theatres and that releasing a 4K version won't make them any money. So I think they are only going to release a bluray DVD combo pack as that is what most families buy when they buy a movie.
