Default Disney+'s "Falcon & Winter Soldier"

Empire writer Malcolm Spellman has been tapped to write a limited series for Disney’s streaming service that would center around the Marvel superheroes Falcon and Winter Solider, according to Variety.

The news comes on the heels of recent reports that Disney and Marvel were prepping multiple limited series centered MCU characters who have never had their own standalone movies, a la Iron Man, Captain America and Thor. Loki and Scarlet Witch are also expected to be the subject of their own limited series, which are expected to be between six and eight episodes. That addressed one complaint that has plagued some of Marvel’s Netflix series, which typically offer 13-episode seasons, dragging out the story a few hours too long.

Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan would reprise their MCU characters, who had their breakout moments in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, though Stan appeared as Bucky Barnes in the first Captain America movie. The duo most recently appeared together in Avengers: Infinity War.

Spellman becomes the first writer hired on a Marvel series in development at Disney’s streaming service. He’s represented by CAA and Industry Entertainment Partners.

More to come…

Looks like all the supporting characters are going to the small screen. Don't mind, it sounds good.

So much for that report about Mackie potentially becoming Captain America.

This report tells me no one is taking the Captain America mantle from Rogers.

I was already sold on the streaming service. This is just icing on the cake.

They definitely have great chemistry. This should be a great show. Now just bring back Agent Carter!

People are still going on about this? You're out of it if you ever believed anyone was about to stay dead.

Black Panther goes well over a billion. There’s no villain in any comic book that can defeat a billion at the box office. You’d have to be crazy to think any of those turned to dust won’t come back. Now could someone die after they come back? Or someone die who didn’t turn to dust? That’s very likely.

It would be interesting to see complications with bringing certain characters back, thinking of Drax in this particular scenario. Depending what happens with Bautista and all.

I would love a flashback episode that focused on Sam with his partner Riley and Bucky's time as the Winter Soldier.

Forgot this was happening. This and Hawkeye sound great. I'm not necessarily opposed to Scarlet Witch and Loki shows, I just don't care as much about them. And I hope there's overlap among the series so that they can all play together.

This is the one announced Marvel show I’m excited for! Their backs and forth is my favorite of the Captain America movies! This and the Mandalorian will get me to Disney+

So are all Marvel TV Series new ones just going to be on Disney+ not on cable networks like ABC or Freeform or FX? I don't really like this trying to force people to sign up to their streaming service.

I'm very skeptical about all these shows, but especially this one since both Bucky and Sam are logical successors to the Captain America mantle once Steve either dies or retires.

Just the series from Marvel Studios. The Marvel Television shows will remain on ABC, Freeform, Hulu, etc.

New ones, probably. And maybe if Runaways, AoS, and C&D were to get cancelled. They haven't had any new Marvel shows since Cloak & Dagger last year anyway, and New Warriors is basically dead in the water. Inhumans didn't do well at all so ABC probably won't bother with more. Future ones will probably go to Disney+ if I'm guessing.

Either of them still could be, these are "limited series" so it'll only be a handful of episodes and if one of them takes over as Cap, they'll just drop from the show and be in the movie instead. Doesn't Falcon operate separately as Cap and Falcon still anyway?

It seems odd to me that they are sticking characters together for shows, but it's not a big deal.

Are we going to get an Ironheart show next? Or are they saving her for when they need to pass on the Iron Man franchise?

While I do plan to subscribe to Disney+, my hope/concern is that these new MCU connected shows get physical Blu-Ray releases sometime down the road. I just like having all of the MCU in a physical form, and that includes the connected TV shows.
