Default What do you think about the PIP function?

First off, I use my PS3s as the primary Blu-ray movie players. In addition, the recent update now includes PIP playback. Well, I just picked up my copy of WAR and Crank on BD and played it with the PIP feature and to tell you the truth, it annoyed the hell out of me so far. I guess when BD gets more titles down the line, it might get enhanced somewhat or something.

So, for those of you who have tried the PIP function, what is your take on it so far?

Do not care at all. I just want the best possible presentation of the movie. I rarely delve into extras. I will watch some deleted scenes/alternate endings, but I just want the movie. However, I think the surround sound customization on Sunshine has potential.

To keep this thread on track, however, I do not care for PiP, I just want the movie to look and sound its best.

Default Used to be indifferent. . .

I have to say that I like the PIP function for extras sake. It's a nice bonus for stuff after the movie, but in most cases I would only watch such extras once or twice at most. I think that the PIP function adds to the completeness and sleekness of a movie, especially one on Blu, considering it's revolutionary.

I used the think that DVD extras were rubbish. . . ever since I adopted Blu-ray, I've been impressed and more inclined to take extras into account when purchasing a title in high definition.

Nevertheless, I still buy the movie for the movie, but extras are exactly that, extras. I personally dislike 480p extras though. . . if I buy a Blu-ray movie I expect everything to be in HD, but that's not the case, so I live with it.

In other words, I have come to like extras because they are much better (sounding and looking) on Blu compared to their DVD counterparts, in most cases mind you. Sometimes, the extras remain to be rubbish, heh hum. . . 480p!

Honestly it's useless to me. I would love to see the focus group results the studios used to determine that consumers want to see the director talking in a little box over the film. Would people pay to see it at a movie theater? Of course not. I believe the obsession with PIP for the studios is that it's harder to pirate and gives people slightly more incentive to buy it than download it illegally.
