Default Broken Arrow (1996)

Yes, I know this movie is a piece of shit, but it has an awesome score by Hans Zimmer, decent action, nice locations, and Samantha Mathis is REEAAALLL easy to look at.

The Blu-ray looked like crap and felt like an upscale of the old Laserdisc master.

It's far from being a piece of shit. It's a great example of 90s action cinema.

I agree the blu ray looks bad though.

You think? The plot is so full of holes. Travolta is so camp he might as well have been wearing a tutu.

I still like watching it, but the contrivances and lack of logic really get on my nerves.

Fair enough.

I think Travolta is amazing in this, love his OTT performance.

Agree on all points, especially the "piece of shit" part.

Like you said, it's far from it. I actually consider this my third favourite Woo Hollywood flick (1. Hard Target, 2. Mission: Impossible II). I definitely prefer Broken Arrow over Face/Off. I think Travolta's performance is a rare example of OTT acting without actually overdoing it too much in a way that it becomes unwatchable. I even like both Slater and Mathis in this.

A UHD would be most welcome but when it comes to Woo in 4K, Hard Target comes before anything else!

TERRIFIC action flick. Would love a UHD, but as it's Fox (and now Disney) the chances aren't just remote, they're off the ****ing map

You sound like you created this thread just to low-key shit on the movie under a veneer of wanting it on 4K... weird

I just watched the blu-ray with my lady the other night. For the very express reason that Geoff brought up. This getting on home video again is going to be REALLY tough from here. The 25th anniversary is in 2 years, but do Disney even care about such things? Nah not really. And we need a new scan bottomline, which is a second layer of roadblock to Disney letting Fox release this even with some autonomy under them. They still won't have green light to risk catalog investing...

And yet we have seen not a single thread of proof that Fox and Disney won't release anything

Which kills me, because it's is one of my most rewatched movies. This is up there with my favorite '90s guilty pleasures: Con Air, Hard Rain, Last Action Hero, The Rock, Speed, Twister, and Waterworld.

Disney have announced back cat stuff since and not just Marvel.
Also do you want some bear tax?

Let's hope that Cinderella's 4K is merely the vanguard of Disney's apparent newfound zest for catalogue UHD stuff. I suppose Samantha Mathis is now a Disnee princess? That might work

Seconded on "bear tax". I do not understand that reference.
