I'll just name the ones that pop into my mind that are favorites, rather than research my collection.
Actually, found a list of zombie films to reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_zombie_films Day of the Dead 1985 (Romero) (the zombies were some of the best decayed zombies and gory as hell too) The characters were all entertaining as well. Dawn of the Dead 1978 (Romero) (a fun adventure in the mall, but things got very serious when the zombies started biting and tearing people apart) Let Sleeping Corpses Lie (Grau) (LDAMMorgue) Edna was great, along with George, and the inspector, all interesting characters, with the two leads stuck in a hellish nightmare of trying to convince the inspector of their innocence, while avoiding the country side slow but very strong, rotten zombies. Classic. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let_Sl...pses_Lie_(film) The Beyond (Lucio Fulci) Really creepy as hell, surreal horror zombie film. The zombies in the hospital at the end are classic. Hell of the Living Dead Return of the Living Dead (the comedy was pretty good with the undertaker) Return of the Living Dead 2 Shaun of the Dead Dead Alive (A comedy horror film by Peter Jackson) Some gross signs of decay within the comical zombie mother. 28 Weeks Later (these are ragers, not really zombies) 28 Days Later (these are ragers, not really zombies) World War Z (there will be no sequel, confirmed) The Dead Next Door Death Dream (the soldier returns home, but dead and decaying and evil, similar to the Monkey's Paw tale) Messiah of Evil (some great zombie scenes in the town and theater) Night of the Comet Creepshow (It's Father's Day episode of the movie by Romero was a zombie) Survival of the Dead (Romero) House by the Cemetery (Fulci) Land of the Dead (Romero) Night of the Living Dead (Romero) Night of the Living Dead (Savini remake) Night of the Creeps I Am Legend (mutant zombies) I, Zombie (memorable as a really gross, slow decay zombie film) Dead Meat (I remember it as an entertaining gory zombie film) Horror Express (zombie on train) The Fog Fido Planet Terror (Rodriguez) Raiders of the Living Dead Zombieland Zombi (Fulci) City of Rott (animated action horror zombie film) Resident Evil 4 Afterlife Resident Evil 1 Resident Evil 5 Retribution Resident Evil 3 Resident Evil 2 Resident Evil 6 Final Chapter (I shouldn't even list this one due to the fast cut editing that kind of ruined it for me) Dawn of the Dead 2004 I've seen a lot more, but the ones above are some that I remember more often. ------ Not true zombie films, but zombie like: Evil Dead 1 and 2 in there, and the Evil Dead series? Those are zombie demons in a way, but not true zombies. And: The Last Man on Earth with Vincent Price. Not really zombies, but slow vampires. Nightmare City Pet Sematary (back from the dead humans) Quarantine (based on the movie Rec) these were Rabid humans And I want to see; The Dead Don't Die on video, and other zombie films. |

It might be easier for me to pick 10 lists in this post that I like. All fantastic choices-I love the comedy films, the social commentary films, the action films, the ecological commentary films, and the gory films.
Great thread. P.S.-Only omission I've noticed is the French film Horde. |

Lots of great zombie flicks mentioned in this thread, but not one person mentioned CHILDREN SHOULDN'T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS.
Shame on you all! Funny enough, I see a few mentions of Bob Clark's other "dead" film, DEATHDREAM (aka DEAD OF NIGHT), but that's actually a vampire movie, not a zombie movie. |

Also, I'd argue that if the EVIL DEAD movies are considered zombie films, than so should the NIGHT OF THE DEMONS movies, as well as the Bava/Argento DEMONS movies. I'd say they're all more or less demonic possession films, but yeah, I guess once the demons (or deadites) take over, the human host is a member of the living dead.
