Default Saving Private Ryan iTunes 4k Color Grading

I decided to watch SPR tonight... D-Day and all.

This is the first time watching it in 4K on iTunes. I’ve seen the movie countless times on VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray and iTunes HD.

With this 4K file, it seems to me that the studio tweaked the color grading so that it now reflects what is shown on TV. The desaturation seems to be way down. Has anyone else experienced this or are my eyes deceiving me?

What does "the studio tweaked the color grading so that it now reflects what is shown on TV"?

Sorry... the movie was meant to have less color saturation... which gave it a greyish / washed out tone.

However, most TV providers have added the color saturation back in for their broadcasts (rumors have it that people would call and complain about the color if they didn't adjust the color)

What I watched last night reminded me of the TV broadcasts.

Okay I understand.

It is a favourite of mine and I bought it on iTunes last year, but I haven't watched the since probably the original DVD release.

I don't know if that is something I would have noticed.
