Default Sony HT-SS2000

I've finally got a little bit of money saved up, and I was wondering if this Sony HT-SS2000 is able to play some of the HD audio from my PS3. I'm not an audio expert by any means, but from I can tell by reading about this system is it should be able to play the Dolby TrueHD tracks from my PS3 via LPCM. Is that right? I know the PS3 can't decode MasterHD audio, but I don't have any surround sound (yea, I know, what a waste) so I can live with the standard 5.1 tracks on those titles. Could somebody who knows about this system, or HD audio help me?
-Thanks

It can play most of the new audio sources BUT you might want to check out the HT-SF2000.

I am waiting to actually see this in the store before I buy.

Just making sure though, the HT-SF2000 and the HT-SS2000 can both play the Dolby True HD and Uncompressed PCM from my PS3, right?

I would get the Onkyo 605 with some good speakers.

I had looked at getting the 605, but that's all I could get lol. I'd have to wait to get some speakers to go along with it. I was hoping that this would be a nice all in one system that I could get that could play the TrueHD tracks from the ps3.

well the htss2000 and htsf2000 are the same aside from speaker stands. i have the s2000 and it sounds great in my 14x14 livingroom. the bass from the sub is ok but since i live in an apartment it doesnt matter to me because i turn it down anyways. if you get the 2000 system make sure to cal it manual and dont use auto cal. to be truthful i could of spent $2000 on a reciever and speakers but the noticable difference is not worth $1350 to me unless you have a dedicated home theatre room.

You will have to live with PCM if you're wanting to spend less money, nothing wrong with PCM though. I was thinking about the same setup, I decided to hold off for the 605. Just so I can be future proof.

This is probably a stupid question, but since I'm not at home to check, I'll just have to ask anyways. Do all blu's have pcm tracks on them?

It'll be able to play 2 out of the 3 lossless formats. It'll obviously be able to play the 5.1 pcm tracks fine, and if you set up your ps3 to send pcm over hdmi you can play the Dolby TrueHD tracks as the PS3 decodes that. I'm sure the ps3 will be able to decode DTS MA soon enough, so 3 of 3 at 5.1 is pretty good.

You however won't be able to play movies sampled at 96kHz while still displaying 1080p video. However, no movies are.
