Looks pretty cool from an 80s slasher standpoint.

I love 80s slashers so I'm interested. I'd really like to see one where you have the option of being the killer.

I am a huge 80's slasher fan. There is nothing better than watching a 80s slasher with you partner on a cold foggy night. I hope they make correct use of the next gen hardware and produce one hell of a game.

Gun Media has revealed the man behind the mask in their upcoming 80′s themed slasher game Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp, and it’s a name that fans of the Friday the 13th films should easily recognize. Kane Hodder — Jason Voorhees himself — will be donning a different mask in this game, but his duty will be the same: kill, kill kill.

“Honestly, who else could we have chosen for the role of the killer?” explains Wes Keltner, co-creator of Summer Camp. “Several people have worn the mask, but in our eyes, there was only one. Kane has the body type, the presence and demeanor that personify the unrelenting, undying killing force we’re after for Summer Camp.”

With Kane Hodder and FX legend Tom Savini (Dawn of the Dead, From Dusk till Dawn) involved, I don’t understand why the world hasn’t exploded already.

“Everyone has their own skills. One of mine happens to be killing people on screen. When Wes and the team behind Summer Camp came to me, I jumped at the chance to bring my skills to gamers around the world. Combined with the fact that Savini is on board and Manfredini is doing the soundtrack? This is a no-brainer.”

Hodder gets it.

Summer Camp is one of a handful of upcoming horror games we have to look forward to in what looks like a slasher game renaissance.

It’s getting a little confusing though, with the similarly titled Splatter Camp, the recent announcement of a Friday the 13th video game, and the issues it’s had with Last Year.

This isn’t the kind of mess that slasher fans have come to expect from the genre, but if we can get a few great horror games out of all this, it’ll be worth it. With everything it has going for it, Summer Camp isn’t likely to disappoint.

Will it match up to the Nintendo "Friday the 13th"?

Horror games are definitely this generations bread and butter

Friday the 13th from LJN on NES, I remember that one.

Hopefully this game offers great game play without a timer. And also lets the gamer choose which character to play as in the game, including Jason.

Sony Bend are apparently working on a new open world horror game which may appear at e3 2015.

In less than a week, the 80’s slasher-themed horror game Summer Camp will break its silence with a mystery announcement that I suspect will be as spooky as it scary, with definite potential for stabbing and slashing. As I write this, we’re less than four days away from what I imagine is going to be a trailer of some sort. If we’re lucky, we may even get a release window for it.

Summer Camp is the teen slasher game that’s being made by Breach & Clear developer Gun Media, along with Kane Hodder — Jason Voorhees himself — and legendary special make-up effects creator Tom Savini (Dawn of the Dead, Friday the 13th).

Pamela Voorhees is pissed in this reveal trailer for Friday the 13th: The Game!

That’s right. Gun Media has finally unmasked their next game, and it’s not called Summer Camp anymore. The studio is hard at work on bringing Jason Voorhees back to the virtual world of video games, and since I’m positive you’ve skipped my rambling, I’m just going to shut right up so you can enjoy this fantastic reveal trailer.

While working under the title Summer Camp, it was revealed that the teen slasher game was being made by Breach & Clear developer Gun Media, along with Kane Hodder — the most famous Jason Voorhees — and legendary special make-up effects creator Tom Savini (Dawn of the Dead, Friday the 13th). Oh, and Harry Manfredini will be composing the original score.

“Honestly, who else could we have chosen for the role of the killer?” Wes Keltner, co-creator of Friday the 13th: The Game told Bloody Disgusting earlier this year. “Several people have worn the mask, but in our eyes, there was only one. Kane has the body type, the presence and demeanor that personify the unrelenting, undying killing force we’re after for [Friday the 13th: The Game].”

“Everyone has their own skills. One of mine happens to be killing people on screen,” Hodder told us. “When Wes and the team behind [Friday the 13th: The Game] came to me, I jumped at the chance to bring my skills to gamers around the world. Combined with the fact that Savini is on board and Manfredini is doing the soundtrack? This is a no-brainer.”

Gun Media is looking to raise $700,000 via a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to help make this 7-on-1 asymmetrical multiplayer game a reality. It will end a month from now, on Friday, November 13th. Naturally.

Friday the 13th: The Game is slated to arrive next fall for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
