Great. Master Cheeks, in full UHD disc glory.

Seriously, screw this pathetic excuse of an adaptation. Peter Jackson expressed interest in helming this franchise and they rejected him. Because Lord knows, this is what the fans wanted.

Yeah, this just felt like a bad fan project.

And of course they had to ruin Master Chief...

This is a good sign that they might release the Knuckles the Echidna show in 4K UHD.
That would make Paramount's Sonic Film Universe better than the MCU with how it's treated for home video.

Always good to see more TV shows (and those that are streaming exclusive) being released in UHD

I'll never understand why Disney is against releasing their shows on disc. I get that they want to attract viewers to their streaming service, but they could always opt to release them 1 year later or something. By then most of the people will have had the chance to view it on Disney+. I believe they can earn quite a bit of money if they'd release their Star Wars/Marvel shows. I'd pay a lot for The Mandalorian on disc.

Problem with Sherlock is it came out years after BD, and even after the show itself had ended and last season had been released, so people who bought it already probably didn't want to risk not getting the rest... and it didn't have BD, so people who would future proof didn't get it because they didn't at least have a 4K player yet.

Probably would have at least been released on BD anyway, Paramount actually seems to realize releasing their streaming shows isn't a direct competition for their service.

Probably depends on how it was filmed, were the Treks filmed in 4K or just HD? Or whatever the terminology is. Maybe I'll wait and get 1883 just in case

This is the first non-WB or Stranger Things TV on 4K, isn't it? Other than a few episodes they released of Twin Peaks.

I think Star Trek: Discovery went 4K with Season 4 streaming-wise (although S1-3 were available in 1080p HDR), and Strange New Worlds Season 1 was in 4K too. It seems Discovery S4 is just getting a standard Blu, but I hope Halo getting a UHD is a good omen for Strange New Worlds getting one as it would be a definite purchase for me!

I wonder if they’re holding off on the Treks between Disco and Picard being a good way into their runs to drop 4k complete series box sets later.

Neither were the early seasons of Game of Thrones.

That's because they were filmed in 1080. The 4K releases are upscales.
