Default UK 4K release without a Blu-ray release of the new master

I recently upgraded to 4k, to get my hands on Predator was a big motivation to finally get round to this, as on blu-ray there was only the old mpeg-2 master and the waxy Ultimate hunter edition. The new 4k release was never ported to blu. Watched last night and was blown away by how amazing it looked.

So I'm wondering if there are any other releases which I should be aware of which are in the same boat? I'm not looking at rebuying my collection completely again in a new format.

I already know about Die Hard & The Big Lebowski where the new scans were never released on blu. (in the UK at least)

The new masters for Blade Runner and The Mummy are also exclusively on 4K.

Most fox, pari, Uni and Lionsgate 4ks are the same ol bds included. notable examples of poor bds include as you said earlier Predator, Mission Impossible 1, Big Lebowski, American Psycho among others

Without a remastered Blu is about 95% of UHD titles. The only real studios that consistently do remastered discs are Warners and StudioCanal but even then Warner doesn’t for every single release.

Thanks for the replies. Blade Runner is a good shout. I'll pick up The Matrix also at some point, replace the old VC-1 encoded blu.

The new Matrix Blu-ray isn't very good versus the 4K UHD. Probably better than the first Blu-ray though.

The newly included Blu-ray that has also been remastered suffers A LOT with filtering and the encode shows some severe clipping in the highlights, but that luckily doesn't transfer across to the 4K variant

From our own resident expert too via The Matrix 4K UHD (1999) thread:

Same goes with something like the remastered CE3K BD, they've nuked the highlights AND raised the gamma so that it clips highlights and crushes blacks and just comparing it to the old 2007 Blu-ray bears this out in spades, never mind the 4K. Sometimes it's not solely about UHD comparison bias, it's because the new SDR version really IS that fubar.

The ol one got 5 stars on the site despite having agressive compression, too heavy tinting and an electronic appearence. Some members believe this is much better than the SDR botch job on the new bd

I'll take blown out highlights over a video appearance any day.

I'm kinda glad I don't have to put up with either though. But if this was a world without UHD and that remastered Matrix Blu had pitched up looking exactly the same as it does then I'd still have been absolutely horrified by it. And without the Atmos to sway me in putting up with the new BD (not that it doesn't have it, I just mean I don't give a fcuk about it) then in all honestly I'd have gone back to the old BD.

That counts double for the sequels' new BDs as there's not only the same blown-out highlights but also some very weird shit going on, especially Reloaded with certain scenes getting battered with DNR and that weird ultra-jaggy bit when Neo sees the twin through the door as he closes it in the parking garage.
