This is a prosperous direction for Paramount+ to also do the same for Picard: Season 3

Nice! Too bad it's 2 months after the release of the BD. With that being said, just canceled the BD pre-order and preorderd the 4K!

I have not seen any of these yet. Generally speaking, without zomgwtfbbq spoilers, does it have at least a bit of the OG Trek serial appeal/format?

Yes. It's got some character arcs (decent ones actually, following up threads like Pike's fate as seen in TOS) but it's episodic in nature so if you hit an episode you don't like, there's always the next one with a new story. Without spoiling it, if you're a fan of TOS you get even more out of it.

It's the strongest Trek series for quite some time (and I like Discovery and Picard).

Cheaparse Paramount, not including the 1080p blurays as well. Boo. Better have a digital copy of the season.

That said, I look forward to more of the series to be released on UHD.

With "Strange New Worlds" on 4K, I hope DS9 + VOY on BD and TOS on 4K will follow next.

There's going to come a time (if it hasn't already) where DS9 & VOY look embarrassingly bad in SD.

That time had arrived at the latest in 2012...

Great news this is coming to 4K. I was going to hold off from buying the Blu-ray just in case.

I believe only this and season 4 of Discovery were actually shot and produced in 4K though. While the other series and seasons were 1080p, albeit with HDR where available.

Hopefully Discovery and Picard get 4K releases before I get through DS9, Voyager and Enterprise

I thought Strange New Worlds was alright, they don't make classic episodes anymore. I mean honestly these don't have much rewatch value, there ok to watch once but to buy and keep on the shelf to watch again maybe not.

I liked the last episode of s1 for obvious reasons, have tried Discovery and Picard and I wouldn't even buy them on vhs.

So its the best of the new bunch but nothing earth shattering in season 1 that forces me to buy it because I live episode X.

I honestly don't think I could enjoy Star Trek without season 1 of TOS, have yet to see any episode across this new bunch that excites me enough to buy it.

Oof, that's a helluva price, but SNW is some of the best new Trek we've seen in a long time. Maybe it will get a plain packaging release too at some point.

The Blu-ray steelbook is also a hefty $51.

I think I paid $14 per TOS episode on VHS! LOL.
