Default The Thin Red Line (Criterion) picture problem?

Hello.
I wanted to ask you if at around 29.20'', you see this quality of picture:

[Show spoiler]

Notice the two faces and the shadows!
It looks like really bad quality.
now, in the next shot which shows the colored person, the quality is great.
Is it like this in your Bluray disc too?

I watch the Bluray in my pc and I used 2 software:
TotalMedia Theatre 5, and MPC-HC.
That shot is the same bad quality in both.

i haven't seen the whole film, but as i got through it in places i didn't notice anything else except this particular shot which seemed bad to me..

Yes, it's been discussed before. It's a pretty minor issue IMO, I didn't even catch it the first time I saw it. The UK Fox disc didn't have the problem.

(More problematic for me were the 30-ish minutes of the film (one of the battle sequences) that are much softer than the rest of the film, starting around the 1 hour mark if memory serves.)

Oh Ok, thanks.
i wanted to be sure, that it's not only me!
So, the FOX disc had it fixed eh?
Too bad that i didn't buy that one then...

If anyone has the FOX disc and would like to put a screenshot to compare with this, be my guest! ;-)

edit:
By the way, i saw this thread here too:
http://www.avsforum.com/t/1272947/th...discussion/240

So,there was never a correction of the Criterion disc, right?

Is the CC edition any better that the Twenty Century Fox edition?
