Question Pixar Movies Re-releasing in 4K... Why Were Some Left Out?

Hey all,

I was delighted to see that a good selection of the Pixar films were getting the 4K treatment... even with steelbook copies being made available. I got the ones that were available on pre-order already.

I'm just curious why some like A Bug's Life, Monsters Inc, Up and Monsters University were left out of the line-up... I doubt they were trying to spread them out to give our wallets a little bit of a break before the next onslaught (especially when three of the above mentioned films are getting a standard Blu-ray re-release on the same day).

I can understand why things like Cars 3, Coco, The Incredibles, Incredibles 2, etc. were left off the line-up since they've somewhat recently all had 4K re-releases... but I do not understand why they'd leave out some of Pixar's hardest hitters or classics, especially when you see something like The Good Dinosaur getting a 4K steelbook re-release (not that I personally minded the film, just making a statement).

Is there some actual reasoning behind this that I'm missing here? Or is this just another par for the course bit of Disney release randomness??

Any info on this topic would be appreciated...

Disney is spreading them out, this strategy makes more money because of anticipation. If everything were released at once, they’d spent a ton of money on the effort and return on investment would not be as strong.

It's just the first wave. There will be another batch of titles next year.

Ah, good thoughts there. I just figured that since they put so many of them out just now that leaving a few off didn't make too much sense. You'd think they would've just released a few this time, a few next time... not a whole bunch at once, leaving just a few titles left, like this particular wave appears...

Around this time is when they are releasing MCU back catalog titles in the format, already overkill enough as it is.
