Robert Englund wants gay Elm Street remake

We already have a homoerotic Elm Street film and that was done 35 years ago.

I still think this franchise is dead and should just rest in peace and stay where it is. I'd rather it's time for new horror franchises already.

Clickbait title. He doesn't say they should remake Nightmare on Elm Street 2. What he says is actually much different, and I agree with him.

You gotta love that Robert saying kids are different today and the film should reflect that = Robert wants a super gay remake of NOES 2.

From what I read, he pretty much said he doesn't have it in him anymore. Due to various factors. Would be nice but don't hold your breath for it to happen ever again. Going by the way he was talking. Best you can hope for is that they find someone like him and Robert Englund has heavy involvement in the process.

Not good enough for me. If he doesn't do another one, then it's fine with me. I can live without more sequels or reboots of NOES. It's Either Robert Englund or no buy from me.

Agreed! Freddy isn't just a mask wearing mute like Jason or Michael Meyers so you can't just replace him.

Correct me if I'm wrong here -- it's been a long time since I read up on any of this and never saw the documentary about it -- but if I remember correctly, Mark Patton who played Jesse Walsh in A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 actually hated that they played up the gay aspects of the character, even though the actor actually is gay. From what I recall, he was typecast and never got many roles because of it.


I always liked the second film. As far as I'm concerned, the first three Elm Street films are the only ones for me. Never cared for the others. Freddy died with Dream Warriors.

Unfortunately Robert Englund is done playing Freddy Krueger mainly because of his age, and he already made eight elm street films and that's plenty to last us a lifetime. Robert Englund is 73 years old, and as much as he would like to reprise his role as Freddy, I don't think he's physically able to do it anymore. He may have some medical conditions that the public doesn't know anything about that he want it to be kept private. As we get older our bodies have an tendency to fall apart physically and mentally. He's not getting any younger.

I disagree my faves are 1 3 and 4 and i did like 2 and Freddy's Dead and New Nightmare, FVJ was fun but problematic but 5 i thought was dull and had no tone to it and the remake was crap as it felt lifeless, poor script, unlikable characters and all.

Yup. He was bitter for many years because he felt that David Chaskin (the writer) shied away from taking any responsibility, and pinned the homoeroticism of the film solely on Patton's performance.

You should give Scream, Queen! a watch. It's a good'un.
