Default Disney's The Little Mermaid Ariel's Beginning & Return To The Sea 2 movie collection

The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning / The Little Mermaid: Return to the Sea Blu-ray

Well since Disney just released the trailer for the little mermaid prequel and sequel combo pack I thought I would make this thread to officially discuss the two movies. Honestly I would have thought they would have released them separately like the lion king.

I was expecting them. I guess I'll pick them up, but not a priority at all. Since Cinderella's cheapquels were released like that, I figured they'd do it for these (and hopefully Aladdin).

Yes! I love LM2 and the prequel was decent.

Why anyone over the age of eight would want to watch these is beyond me, let alone in high-def. There has never been, nor will there ever be, a good Disney cheapquel.

After my niece recently looked at a picture of Ariel and asked me, "Who's that?" I'm not the least bit ashamed to admit that I'm gonna be picking these up.

She needs to know.

The only one that I'd say is fairly decent is The Lion King 2.

The Lion King 2 is one of the best Disney "cheapquels".

Cinderella: A Twist In Time was well received.

I happen to think the return of jafar was fairly decent it would have been an excellent sequel if it had had the voice of robin Williams as the genie it's a shame Disney never paid him to redub the voice of the genie. The only reason people think number 3 is better than two is because it features Robbin William if it didnt 2 would seem better. Well that fact and they gave 3 a bigger animation budget but 2 really does have the better story.

The second Aladdin wasn't all that bad...just the voice.

It was okay, although the rest of the TV series and third-sequel TV finale were better.
The TV-pilot "sequels" (except for the infamous Cindy one) are usually watchable, since they've got that Disney Afternoon pedigree...And yes, I still like "Atlantis II".
By the time the fresh-off-the-grill sequels were coming up made to order with the contemporary films, there wasn't time enough for the sequels to go off the rails, and "Mulan II" and "Brother Bear II" weren't painful either.

Little Mermaid II was the "other" sequel that brought down the studio--
Think it was only the second cheapquel they ever did, and they were still so rooted in the parent-appeal of going with Lion King II's "They had a kid who felt unappreciated!" template, they didn't know how to tell the story without bringing Timon & Pumbaa back into it...
This's the OTHER sequel that got the Part 3 "Do over!" where they put some effort into it next time.

Although I don't like them nearly as much as the first movie, I'll still be picking these up.

If it's Disney then it's a day one for me. I never saw these growing up but I'm not expecting masterpieces. Looking forward to checking them out.

Then go region free because they are releasing a Little Mermaid Trilogy Digibook or Digipack, not sure which, in Germany.

There's a "The Little Mermaid Collection" on Amazon UK. Says it's region free, and comes in a nice looking box. Current price is £22.03, comes out September 2nd!

It was the voice of Homer Simpson who did it (Dan Castellaneta) and he just didn't have the energy that Robin Williams did... A shame, he tried, but the genie being different threw the movie off for me...
