"The Getaway" with Baldwin/Bassinger on BD? - Blu-ray Forum

Just about every title that was available on HD-DVD has now been re-issued or announced on BD, except "The Getaway" with Baldwin/Bassinger. I, of course, would love to have this pulp trash classic on BD. What other titles have failed so far to make the jump from their HD editions to BD?

Actually I'd say 65% of the Universal catalog that was on HD DVD still has not made it to Blu-ray Disc...

-Accepted
-The Skeleton Key
-Talk to Me
-The War
-An American Werewolf in London
-Timecop
-Army of Darkness
-Hot Fuzzz
-Shaun of the Dead
-The Frighteners
-Daylight
-Smokin' Aces
-Balls of Fury

I could go on but those are some of the titles yet to hit BD and sure Armyof Darkness was announced but pulled. Hott Fuzz & Shaun of the Dead were never officially announed.

Well, it certainly seems that with a Pantheon of Greats like those titles that my little request should be possible...

I wouldnt mind seeing this on blu-ray. I actually saw this in the theaters and loved it. Kim Basinger is/was pretty hot for an old chick.

I think i had this on laserdisc.

Well, she wasn't "old" at the time, although it is pretty shocking to see how Baldwin, once a hunky star, has turned into a bloated puffy faced old boozer. Still, although the remake is widely put down, I always thought it had a great cast and was actually an improvement on the original in a lot of ways...

I'd like to know as well. But it must have been bumped because not even Amazon had the listing for it at all. Perhaps it is a best buy exclusive. They did it initially with Funny Farm/Spies like Us.

Yeah, this and Black Xmas are really getting on my nerves. My last 2 HD-DVDs that I won't be able to get rid of. Black Christmas had an excuse, being Weinstein, but this is bullshit. Has anyone tried contacting Universal about it? They have the goddamn HD-DVD transfer just sitting there. All they have to do is slap a ****in blu-ray menu on it.

Really is amazing that this film isn't available on Blu-ray anywhere.

Maybe in 2014 we get treated with a special 20th anniversary edition

Why, is it a great movie or something? I noticed the DVD is OOP...maybe Universal doesn't have the rights anymore?

The production company (Largo Entertainment) moved their properties to Warner Bros.

So far WB has released Timecop and Dr. Giggles. They also re-released Point Break which was previously released by Fox.

Anyways, I think it's a solid heist film with an excellent cast. A lot of people seem to be turned off by the fact that it's a remake of a Steve McQueen fim.

This is the last HDDVD that I need to replace and I am also getting very tired of waiting for a good Blu edition.

This is a great movie to me.......just love it!

Still waiting to replace my HD DVD of The Baldwin/Basinger "The Getaway" along with "Streets of Fire." Last two HD DVD's that I have. I finally got tired of waiting for Universal to release "The Interpreter," and single disc versions of "Vertigo" and "Rear Window" and just bought the region free UK imports. I wish Universal, or whoever has the rights, would get on with it and release these titles.

You could get streets of fire from amazon in Germany if you can't wait
