After watching Terror Train recently, I've had a sudden interest in watching movies taking place in trains. Which ones would you recommend?
The best ones that come to mind for me are: 1. Train to Busan 2. Snowpiercer 3. The Night Train Murders 4. Terror Train Any others? |

Some of my favorites.
* Dr. Terror's House of Horrors (although it's an anthology and only the framing story is set on a train) * Horror Express * Narrow Margin (only seen the remake, but sadly neither it nor the original are on Blu-ray yet) * Night Train to Munich * Terror Train * Train to Busan * Under Siege 2: Dark Territory |

It's a low-budget B movie but the premise is interesting. A group of people board a "murder train," which is like those dinner events where there is a scripted murder mystery where the patrons interact with the actors and try to solve it. But stuff happens and the train gets derailed and ends up in a lake where they run into a monster that's out for blood. It's really not that great, but for a B-movie, it isn't horrible. The acting is decent, the story interesting (though in the middle it slows), and the costumes are nice (including the monster). Plus the ending makes you think a little. |

The one that doesn't get talked about enough is The Tall Target, a noirish thriller based on a true story about a Pinkerton agent (played by noir stalwart Dick Powell) trying to thwart an assassination attempt on Honest Abe's life aboard a train hurtling towards his next presidential address. It has a decent DVD-R through the WAC, so it's obtainable, but I wouldn't turn a Blu-ray down.
The all-star "Agatha Christie meets Alistair MacClean" Breakheart Pass is one of Charles Bronson's best movies from the 70s. Transsiberian is a decent potboiler, and Woody Harrelson/Emily Mortimer/Ben Kingsley is a pretty cool trio. Oh, and the classic card game between Paul Newman and Robert Shaw in The Sting is possibly the greatest train sequence of all time...after Shaw's fight to the death with Connery nearly a decade earlier in From Russia with Love, that is ![]() Last edited by SeanJoyce; 08-23-2019 at 06:26 AM. |

The Commuter. Far from a great film, but a pretty enjoyable popcorn thriller imo.
