I cannot wait to upgrade my Criterion DVD set of these movies. The 1946 version is spectacular, and the 1964 remake is a lot of fun.

The 1964 Killers doesn't seem to have kept the isolated score and effects track that was on the DVD, while the 1946 one has.
Do you think it could be an omission in the specs on the site?
I would really like to know, but don't know how I could get a definite reply from someone.
I assume Criterion doesn't reply to questions.

I really waited for Criterion's Bluray, since I'm a John Williams completist.

Once again I am out due to Arrow beating Criterion to the punch. These, Sullivan's, RiFiFi, not Arrow but The War Trilogy. I think Thief was the only one they were ahead on. Don't matter to me though because the foreign disc ate great.

Could be due to space constraints, as everything is on one disc

And they chose that?
I don't think so. How much space holds an audio track?
Maybe it was a rights thing with John Williams?

Fortunately..I'm Region Free. So if Criterion doesn't deliver, there's always Arrow!

Not sure if the specs on this are final, but I really hoped Criterion would up the ante with special features due to the two Arrow releases being very solid.

I'll opt for the Arrows as well, but may hang onto my SD of the Criterion for the extras, underwhelming though they may be.

Hell with it. As I mentioned in the Criterion thread, I'll be owning the Arrow UK AND the Criterion releases. I figure might as well for my collection.

But I'll be favoring the Arrow UK to watch the movies though. I don't even own either the 1946 or the 1964 ones yet. Just prepping my collection already.

Contemplating this one. I like the price point and it has the short. It's the only "maybe" at this point, at least, on my list come the B&N July sale. I've heard excellent things about both versions, more so 46 than 64. The short is a nice addition.

If this is one disc, the Arrows would surely be the better option for PQ quality and choice (they have 2 AR versions for the '64 movie plus high bitrates on both the '64 and '46 movies)

Region A here. Never seen the movie and I'd only be interested in the original. Perhaps You Tube has at least some clips and a trailer. The Carlotta French case cover is simply AWESOME though!

Ill replace the Arrow release with this one, but it depends on the reviews of the Criterion version

The 1964 also has a 1.85:1 version on it from Arrow.

I've already got the Siegel release from Arrow. Will probably just snag Siodmak from them too.

Looks as though Criterion is having a few features from the Arrow releases but also exclusive ones too.
