Any guesses as to what "special effects" would include? I forget which titles had been asked about and partially confirmed. "The Thing (1951)" and "Them" and "Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" and "Valley of Gwangi" I think were the ones asked about and they said something like "two of these are upcoming?" I might have the movies wrong.

This is a huge news for the fans of classic cinema. Expect like 4 classic sci-fi titles to be included in this collection.

These 4 seem like a pretty damn good bet. What other classic sci-fi does Warner own that would be a good fit?

I assumed that's what cakefactory meant by the The Thing (1951)

My mistake, I thought you were responding to the second part of my post. I'm not big on Gwangi but I'd be delighted with the other 3.

I really wish they'd release "The Thing," but that doesn't seem like a good candidate for something to go in a set called "Special Effects" since it's not that flashy compared to say, the Harryhausen movies. I'm guessing at least one of those two Harryhausen movies ("Animal World" doesn't seem even remotely likely), maybe "Them," and the original "War of the Worlds"?

I would be greatly amused if they trick us and instead include the likes of Night of the Lepus, The Green Slime, Attack of the 50 Foot Woman and Trog.

Lol. That's possible. What I know for certain is that this collection will include at least one Harryhausen title.

I just hope these are actual new movies to BLU and not Matrix in another collection haha

But i suppose if they are mentioning Hammer etc these could be some of the titles we have been begging for.

I know we don't even have the titles yet, but how does Warner usually do their box sets? Are the films each in a separate case with an outer cardboard box, or are they custom cases where the discs slide into slots on pages?

Any of these suggestions sound great. Let's just hope this will be one of the instances that they see fit to not use old masters!

Doesn't Warner have about the best track record with transfers of older movies? Or is that just when they're under the Archive banner?
