I'm really enjoying this detective/mystery show and part of it is thanks to Mr. Molina's role.

Molina generally elevates anything he's in, & I thought this was superb. The inept local cop felt a little out of place at times, but otherwise, excellent stuff.

Episodes 5 & 6 were my favourites - they felt like a proper Agatha Christie-style murder mystery.

Hope it gets a second season. Plenty more books to be adapted!

Great first season, hope it'll be renewed for a second one and I usually don't watch this genre.

Alfred Molina feels very humble and friendly of an actor. I don't get that from other actors and I love him for it.

I was surprised to find out just now that Alfred Molina was born in the U.K., because he looks Italian more so than British...

This explains it:

Quote:
Alfred Molina was born in 1953 in London, England. His mother, Giovanna (Bonelli), was an Italian-born cook and cleaner, and his father, Esteban Molina, was a Spanish-born waiter and chauffeur.

Born to a Spanish father and an Italian mother. Makes sense to have a Latin surname.

And here he is speaking with his English accent:

Did not know he had an English accent. What a nice surprise.

Anyway, I'd not realistically want 19 seasons as that'd be excessive, but 3-5 seasons would be great.

He's done a lot of great stuff in his native tongue. If you can find it, I highly recommend the (sort of) sitcom he did with Dawn French in 2010/12, Roger & Val Have Just Got In. It's beautifully acted.

There's 18 books to adapt, & the first season did four of them. It'll probably never happen, as streaming shows rarely last that long, but there's enough material out there for another seven seasons if they stuck with the same formula.
