Default Antiviral (2012)

David Cronenberg's son, Brandon Cronenberg, presents...

Quote:
Syd March is an employee at a clinic that sells injections of live viruses harvested from sick celebrities to obsessed fans. Biological communion - for a price. Syd also supplies illegal samples of these viruses to piracy groups, smuggling them from the clinic in his own body. When he becomes infected with the disease that kills super sensation Hannah Geist, Syd becomes a target for collectors and rabid fans. He must unravel the mystery surrounding her death before he suffers the same fate.

This is already out in Canada, if anyone doesn't feel like waiting. I enjoyed the film when I saw it last October, but I haven't been compelled to return to it at all. Definitely his father's son, but I hope to see him step out of the shadow a bit with his next one.

Will the US release have the same extras as the Canadian disc?

The movie was about what I expected, and wasn't my cup o tea. But the Canadian release was pretty good, hopefully this one replicates it.

Just watched this and thought it was FANTASTIC! The satire wasn't at all subtle, it was very in your face what the movie was about, but he did take a cue or two from his father as to the visual aesthetic. I personally don't like David Cronenbergs stuff, but much like David Lynch, I prefer his progeny's work.

I can't wait for Brandon's next film. I'm sure now that he got his feet wet this will just open up the door to something REALLY cool.

I saw this at Best Buy and picked it up on a whim... plus it was only $12.99... I mean, that's pretty good for a new release

Looks interesting. Very strange premise, haha. Not much a fan of David Cronenberg, but I'm not familiar with his son or his son's work... so this will be strange!

it is indeed strange, i myself picked it up especially upgrade and save. It's seriously weird, but it's not nearly as awful as everyone said it was. I thought the character development was great, the casting and the acting were top notch.

If this was just anyone's first film, regardless of relation to anyone, this would put them on the map. I was surprised by the movie, I didn't think I would like it nearly as much as I did.

You could've got it for $7.99, with a $5.00 upgrade & save coupon.

A $5.00 discount is a pretty nice savings.

I can't let go of my DVDs Admittedly, I thought the Upgrade & Save thing was only for when I was upgrading to a Blu-ray of the same film, but even then, I don't want to part with my DVDs I'm a bit of a technology hoarder

Plus, the vast majority of my DVD collection is at my parents' house. Even then, though, I wouldn't part with any of them. Thanks for the heads-up, though

Watched the netflix dvd of this last nite and enjoyed it. Had no clue that McDowell was in this! Loved it when he showed up. Now for the question of the day, what was wrong with Aria Noble's anus?

I'm guessing it was
[Show spoiler]the herp
. Not to give anything away.

I had no clue the movie was going to go that far in that direction. My roommie was horrified and I was a bit shocked to say the least.

Eventually, we all are going to have to part with our DVDs, and everything else someday. We can take any of our material things with us.

for those in the US and haven't taken the leap yet, it's on netflix instantwatch. I would have probably bought this flick anyway, it still irks me.

Thanks! You saved me a few rental bucks. Just added it to my instant queue to watch tomorrow night. If I like it, then I'll probably pick it up for $7.99 with U&S at my local BBY Saturday.
