Default Broke the antenna input on my LCD TV...

I broke the antenna input on my LCD TV so I am unable to directly use my Dish Network coaxial cable on the tv anymore, so what is the best converter or modulator to get to convert the coaxial cable signal into composite or component so I can hook Dish Network back up to that tv?

I am sorry you broke your RF TV antenna input. A TV shop would be able to solder a new one on. That RF input on a flat panel screen is designed for a outdoor or indoor over the air broadcast TV antenna for use with ATSC or cable TV QAM. Most satellite receivers in the last 11 years are HD models with a HDMI output. You should be using the HDMI output on your Dish Network receiver for the best picture quality.

The HDMI port is already in use on my Dish Network receiver, the composite/component ports are already in use on the receiver also, TV2 was at least 30 feet away from the receiver when it was hooked up so it was easier to just run coaxial cable to it at the time. It would probably cost more to get the antenna input fixed or soldered back on than what it would cost getting a converter/modulator to hook it back up to the tv via composite/component cables. If I got a Coaxial to HDMI converter would I then be able to get full HD on the tv or would it still be in SD,so then it would be best to just use a Coaxial to Comosite/Comonent converter?

The only time you use your antenna input is when you're connecting an OTA portable antenna or a receiver from a local cable TV company. Satellite TV doesn't use the antenna input because it's connected with HDMI on your converter.

There are RF to Composite adapters you can buy if you want to stay SD.

You could use/buy an old VCR probably cheaper and use the internal converter.

If you'd rather have HD -- an HDMI splitter and long HDMI cable should work though you'd probably need a decent splitter/amp and quality cable to run a 30 foot. I'm sure Monoprice has something useful

Why would anybody want to do this when, everything is practically broadcast, stream and presented in HD? Even to local channels are no longer in SD anymore, they are all broadcast in HD.

For best picture quality either get a second Dish network satellite receiver for the other TV so one can watch a different channel, or as what another person mentioned purchase a HDMI splitter that would split the HDMI signal so that both TV's would get the exact same picture and sound quality with each room watching the same channel. A HDMI to ATSC RF converter costs around $270 and it would be cheaper and better quality to just run a 30 feet HDMI cable with a HDMI splitter. While it is true one can sometimes use 480i S-Video, 480i composite video, and 1080i component video at the same time as HDMI if the second TV and satellite receiver support it. The low cost HDMI solution below would be better quality.

Old SD TV -- I still have a couple

In a place where HD isn't really wanted - garage, workshop, exercise room, in-law bedroom, a place where you might just use it for audio.

There are plenty of places or situations it might be wanted for a number of reasons.

I actually have 2 TVs running off a TiVO via a $15 RF modulator and using some extra RF Remotes I already had -- it shows the same channel as on the a Family Room TV, but only really need one channel at a time. One is an old 13 in CRT where my wife mainly listens to the news while she works on her computer and another small 19in HDTV capable in the kitchen. I had the CATV free adapters for a while, but when they went to $5 ea/month it wasn't worthwhile so the easiest was just to run those off her TIVO

I could add a TIVO mini and get HDTV on the Kitchen TV, but my wife really doesn't care since it's mainly used while she's in there and 15-20 feet away. Again it's mainly for audio for watching the news so cheap and easy was needed and PQ wasn't important
