Default Help me choose between these 2 speakers

Klipsch RS-62 Rear Surround Speakers or Klipsch RB-81 Bookshelf speakers... If your familiar with Klipsch's products then maybe you can help me decide between the two. My biggest concern is with the RS-62 I will have to mount them about 4-5 feet above ear level on the back wall because my living room and kitchen are one big open room. Do you guys think mounting the rear surround speakers that high will have a major affect on the sound? If I get the bookshelf speakers I will have to buy stands and have them sitting in the middle of the room, which I'd rather not do.

Btw, both speakers are 150RMS and I'm running an Onoyo 805...

Basically I'm just worried about the speakers being to high. Thanks!

If you do mount them too high, you can always angle them down. I would go with the 62's for the added directionality they give. I don't have mine angled, and if many others recommend against it, you could put the 62's on stands, too.

Thanks for your input; I suppose your right in that I could just angle them down as well... Anyone else had any experience with the RS-62?

I had the RS-3 surrounds when I had my systems upstairs in the family room with the kitchen attached to make a long room I believe similar to what you described. I mounted mine high on the wall but about 8 feet in from the back wall. this allowed the surround info to both project forward and also bounce of the back wall. Results very good as you could really hear sounds well from behind your head. I found that visitors would tend to turn there heads to see where the sound was coming from as it would startle them....I would choose the surround speakers over the bookshelf speakers. I have the Onkyo 805 and really like it.
