![]() Valve Index VR ![]() I got my Valve Index VR over the holidays. I was surprised to see there was not an existing dedicated thread for it. I hadn't had much of a chance to try it (my glasses made it pretty uncomfortable). I got some custom glasses made specifically for it. So I can finally try it properly. First game I tried was Narcosis. I also got Super Hot but I have not had a chance to try it. I'm planning to try Light Saber next and then use the mod to play Alien: Isolation with it. My experience so far has been pretty positive. The setup is a bit tedious but worth it. The display is great. I also have the PSVR. It's fine but the low resolution and OLED display made the pixel structure too visible and apparent. The Index uses LCD but the resolution is higher as well as the refresh rate (it can go up to 144Hz, vs, say, the new Oculus models which cap at 72Hz and 80Hz). Even when playing Narcosis (which takes place in darkness underwater), it had pretty good contrast with good black levels. The controls feel very natural too. And surprisingly, the speakers sound pretty darn good. The big anticipated game right now is Half-Life: Alyx coming out in March. The preorder came included with the Index. Has anyone else tried this VR set? |
