New 'Resident Evil' Game In Development

Capcom’s Division 1, responsible for developing the Resident Evil and Devil May Cry series, has sent out a recruitment email to Resident Evil Ambassadors based in Japan in search of “game testers.” Details are highly vague, but the tests will be conducted on either September 8 or September 9 , and that one must be a Resident Evil Ambassador and a person who has played the series

As long as they don't make it a first person game. RE has always been a third person game to me.

I'm guessing the next game will be third-person. Resident Evil 7 sold much worse than 4, 5, or 6.

But 7 was much better then 5 & 6. First or third person I don't really care as long as its good. I doubt its RE 8 though, might be the remake of RE 3.

As much as I enjoyed RE7 in VR, I agree with this. I would have preferred RE7 to be a spin off instead of a "full" RE game anyway. It's a great game to play in VR, but the story and characters don't have that RE vibe to me.

I absolutely love the RE2 remake. I'm hoping for something like that again asap, a horror survival game with the emphasis on creepy atmosphere and puzzle solving instead of action and shooting.

Agreed. 7 was a great game but it wasn’t a great RE game. Mind you it isn’t just the viewpoint for me saying that but it’s part of it.

For me I want a remake of three but first RE 8 and I pray that it's first person. Best of both worlds. Pretty sure it will be considering how well received it was.

Even before that I want Dino Crisis remake.

If it's true that the Nemesis remake is being developed externally, than I imagine Resident Evil 8 is the one being tested.

The Official Japanese Twitter account for Biohazard, aka, Resident Evil has announced that a new Resident Evil game currently in development will be revealed at the Tokyo Game Show on September 10 in Japan, September 9 for the US and Europe.

The new game is codenamed ‘Project REsistence‘, and will be released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It is rumored to be a 4v1 multiplayer title, though no solid evidence yet supports that. Fans in attendance at TGS will be able to test it out and provide feedback, and given playtesting has been going on quite openly in Japan and the US, it doesn’t sound like the kind of approach Capcom would take with a mainline, singleplayer Resi.

I disagree. I thought the VR version was so vastly superior to any other RE experience I have ever had that I will be bypassing any future ‘flat’ RE games. It’s like going back to SD when you are used to 4K Blurays.

I feel the same way about racing games also. Playing in 3rd person and flat just feels lame in comparison.

I'm not really inspired by this BUT as long as they make it a spin off side title, that's fine. Loose canon connections to the franchise for marketing etc.

Now i just hope there's a real RE3 Remake announcement just being kept under wraps for TGS tbh or a proper main entry in RE8 form. I do also think these 4v1 type MP titles are a little bit burned out and DoA these days. Evolve and others have tried the concept in a more action based form and that flopped and tbh, there's a few coming out but not sure they'll be big hits. I think titles like Dead by Daylight etc. work moreso because of the horror element niche.
