Default Shudder's "Creepshow" (Season 1)

Production Has Begun On Shudder’s “Creepshow”; Stories and Directors Announced!

Announced tonight by Shudder, production has begun on the streaming service’s first long-form original TV series, a small screen reboot of “Creepshow“ in Atlanta, GA. Executive produced by The Walking Dead’s Greg Nicotero, the horror series is based on the iconic 1982 anthology film written by Stephen King and directed by George A. Romero.

The six-episode season will feature an adaptation of an as-yet-unannounced Stephen King story (“Survivor Type,” it would seem) as well as segments based on stories by other award-winning and acclaimed horror writers, including:

“By the Silvery Waters of Lake Champlain” by Joe Hill (NOS4A2)
“House of the Head” by Josh Malerman (Bird Box)
“The Companion” by Joe Lansdale (The Bottoms)
“The Man in the Suitcase” by Christopher Buehlman (The Lesser Dead)
“All Hallows Eve” by Bruce Jones (The Hitchhiker)
“Night of the Paw” by John Esposito (The Walking Dead: Webisodes)
“Bad Wolf Down” by Rob Schrab (Monster House)

“Having the opportunity to embrace the spirit of Creepshow and expand on what George and Steve created is, without a doubt, a lifelong dream come true,” said executive producer Greg Nicotero. “Having grown up in Pittsburgh, Creepshow lives in a special place for me. I had the good fortune to visit the set as a teenager. I was able to look behind the curtain of filmmaking, and it changed me forever. I’m honored to continue telling the stories in the ‘comic book come to life’ world that fans fell in love with. This fall we will be ‘opening the coffin’ and unleashing upon the world our demented and ghastly stories, crafted by the best in business.”

In addition to his EP duties, Nicotero will direct some of the series. Other installments will be helmed by David Bruckner, director of the acclaimed horror film The Ritual as well as Bloody Disgusting segments in our V/H/S and Southbound; Roxanne Benjamin, director of segments in Bloody Disgusting’s Southbound and also XX; and Rob Schrab, whose numerous TV directing credits include Ghosted and Community. John Harrison, who was the first assistant director for George Romero on the original Creepshow movie (and who also composed the film’s theme), will be directing a story he co-wrote with Nicotero.

Nicotero’s Oscar® and multiple Emmy® award-winning company, KNB EFX GROUP Inc., will be handling the series’s Creature and Make-Up Effects.

Additional stories and directors, as well as key casting, will be announced later this year.

Shudder’s “Creepshow” will be produced by the Cartel with Monster Agency Productions, Taurus Entertainment, and Striker Entertainment: Stan Spry, Jeff Holland, and Eric Woods are executive producers for the Cartel; Greg Nicotero and Brian Witten are executive producers for Monster Agency Productions; Robert Dudelson, James Dudelson and Jordan Kizwani are executive producers for Taurus Entertainment; Russell Binder is executive producer and Marc Mostman co-executive producer for Striker Entertainment.

“Creepshow” will premiere on Shudder later this year.

Joe Hill and Joe Lansdale are both pretty high profile names. Rob Schrab wrote both Monster House and The Sarah Silverman Program with co-writer Dan Harmon (Rick and Morty; Community)

Looks like topline talent.

Fangoria is live streaming Tom Savini's panel at Monsterpalooza and he said he couldn't talk about Creepshow, but said the episode he directed is "Stand By Me meets the Fog and Jurassic Park."

And my jaw has dropped to the floor. haha. If he actually pulls off that description, this could be amazing.

Strange coincidence that we're getting two streaming series this year that are both horror comic book related and had movies in 1982: Swamp Thing and Creepshow.

Wes Craven's Swamp Thing doesn't hold up to the original comics, but it's a fun movie. Stephen King's and George Romero's Creepshow, on the other hand, is a still one of my favorite horror films ever. Both films had an impact on me as a kid.

I'm looking forward to seeing James Wan's Swamp Thing series and Greg Nicotero's Creepshow series.

I just thought of this... besides both having films in 1982 and both being based or inspired by horror comics, other things that Creepshow and Swamp Thing have in common are:

Bernie Wrightson was the original artist/co-creator of Swamp Thing in comics, and he was also the artist of the Creepshow comic book graphic novel adaptation.

Stephen King's "The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill" in Creepshow features a mutated plant man, much like Swamp Thing.

Adrienne Barbeau starred in both Creepshow (1982) and Swamp Thing (1982).

It's like my childhood is coming back. And I'm just now realizing that it was all connected.....

Can't wait! Have been following this since it was a rumor. One of the stories was supposed to be
be Stephen King's gruesome Survivor Type. I hope it still is. Greg Nicotero was set to direct
it. I'm hoping for a firm air date soon.

Love the Survival type but I think Grandma, also from Skeleton crew, would make a perfect Creepshow episode

Do we know the premiere date yet? Also, does Shudder drop the whole season at once or will it be weekly?

Question:

Is Creepshow 3 proper and legit? Does the Creep appear on there?
