Isn't it April 10 on digital for Trolls World Tour, and this coming Friday for The Invisble Man among others? At least that is how I read it. It says 'will be made available on-demand at the same time they hit those theaters that remain open'.

Those dates are for unique on-demand digital rentals priced at $19.99.

Wonder if any other studios follow suit?

Wish it didn't take an epidemic to get Hollywood to start doing this. I much prefer watching a movie at home than in the theater.

Studios who tried day & date theatrical and home video releases were faced by resistance from theater chains who felt the home video releases would cannibalize their box office sales. Which in turn eat their concession sales.

Some independed films still do release day & date for theatrical & home video. This practice from Universal is just to recoup some revenue lost to theater closings.

I understand why they've been resistant to it before and why they're doing it now. Just curious to see if any other studios do the same during this time or if these Universal titles end up being the only ones.

My daughter loves the first one. Just saw the trailer for this and it looks good. Hopefully we get the physical media soon!

I was glad to see that Vudu added a UHD rental option for the Theater at Home release. I wasn't too keen on spending $20 for a one-time HD stream, but I can justify it for a UHD version. It's even a bit cheaper than taking the family to Dolby Cinema, which is nice. Still, I wish they'd somehow just get the physical release out sooner.

There will also be a Best Buy exclusive steelbook for this title. No release date or artwork yet.

Love that Steelbook, but it’s hard to pass up a deal on Target’s B2G1 free. I think I’ll be okay with the slip since I have the first movie’s slip version.

Reminds me of a candy bag I’d see at Dollar Tree or something.

Just watched the UHD stream on Vudu and it looked and sounded very good for what it was. Pretty eye-melting colors, but it actually made me miss the more earthy and natural tones in the original. It was a bit of visual overload and the movie itself didn't do much for me. No regrets since I would have paid even more to see it in the theater but I'll pass on the UHD. I just don't think I'll want to watch this one again.

The sheer amount of detail on screen in every shot makes me want to own this even more on 4K disc. It may be missing the more natural tones of the original film but you can see just how much the animation has evolved in just the 4 years since the last movie in the texture of everything in the background and foreground.
