Y'all seriously underestimating the Downton audience. This is like an MCU movie for grannies...

I voted 'other" for either IT: Chapter Two or Hustlers. Not sure if the audience for Ad Astra or Downton Abbey is as strong as the demographic for the former two.

Rambo isn't getting premium screens, so that's out.

I thought this as well, but they're doing about 20 advanced screenings around here (including several tonight). By the time it hits opening weekend, the core audience will have all seen it.

Rambo $19M
Hustlers $18.5M
Downtown Abbey $17M
Ad Astra $16M

(I'm hoping Ad Astra or Hustlers will take #1.)

RAMBO: LAST BLOOD goes to war on 3,300+ battlefields next weekend. Sly's last effort, a decade ago, launched with $18M ($22M w/ inflation). Will John Rambo go out with a $20M+ debut? What say you? At his peak, RAMBO II opened in 1985 w/ $20M...or $51M adjusted!

Don't those advance screenings get folded into opening weekend? Seem to recall that's what happened with Shazam earlier this year; Fandango hosted screenings two weeks out & that money was included with the opening gross.

I can't imagine many people want another Rambo, although the last one was my favorite, and after watching a couple of episodes of Downton Abbey, it seems too much of a chick flick. Ad Astra for the win!! (that's the one I'll see first anyway)

They said that about the last Rambo and it turned out pretty well.

Yeah, I think they may do that, just fold it into the normal Thursday night showings which then get folded into the weekend figure. BTW, while I’m sure it’s because dramas typically don’t have a built in fan base, it does have the best advanced ticket sales for any drama this year (passing Once Upon a Time in Hollywood)

All of the Downton Abbey Dolby Cinema Fan Event screenings in my area were nearly sold out. Ad Astra is the only new release I plan on seeing of the three listed since I haven't yet watched Downton Abbey the series and I'm not caught up on the Rambo movies.

I think Rambo will take the weekend over Ad Astra. I'll be seeing both but I'm more geared up for the latter than I am the former.

Tracking has Downton Abbey and Last Blood neck and neck with $23-25 million, though I would give the edge to Downton since it apparently has as much as 7x the pre sale tickets of Rambo (I’m guessing that is more of a walk up purchase type movie, but it is a big gap to overcome). Ad Astra tracking for mid to high teens
