With Stranger Things being the first Netflix produced work on blu-ray, do you think any of their films will be coming out on physical media?
I've been hoping for Okja and have heard nothing, but what is really going to kill my collection is The Irishman which has a lot of potential. I have all of Scorsese's films on some form of physical format and it would suck if this one doesn't make it. Just wondering if there is any potential for more Netflix produced content making its way to blu? |

To date, only The Square has come out (and that was likely only because it was nominated for an Oscar).
The simple answer is that I wouldn't hold my breath. Most of the films Netflix releases are of limited appeal and Reed Hastings likes to keep everything to himself. Lately, they have been exploring using iTunes for advance windows (they apparently did this with Newness) but I think that's more as a way to make money back on things they spent way too much on (**cough**The Babysitter**cough**). Stranger Things only got released due to excessive demand from people who never got over the 80's ending. There isn't that kind of demand for The Ridiculous Six or True Memoirs of an International Assassin. |

I thought Orange is the New Black was the first on Blu-ray. What about House of Cards? What about Daredevil? All before Stranger Things. But no, there's no "films" yet. For example, No Netflix Adam Sandler films are on Blu-ray. Adam Sandler had one of the first Netflix produced films. Also first movie contract deal with a major star. And look above. The Square is on Blu-ray (or are you like IMDb and don't consider documentaries films?). |

It is on DVD (via Universal). Universal's policy seems to be that sitcoms only get DVD releases but dramas typically get released on both (though I'm not sure who would want something like Midnight, Texas over Master of None).

House of Cards is Sony. Daredevil is Disney, etc. Stranger Things was the actual first show produced by Netflix that actually got a physical release. |
