Default Lucasfilm Discussion Thread

List of Lucasfilm productions

This thread is to discuss anything related to Lucasfilm productions. The movies, it's employees, the company's past, present and future. Post about any news/rumors regarding the company here, and any news regarding projects that haven't been officially announced.

I'm getting tired of the Episode IX thread being derailed by any tenuous Lucasfilm news, so I felt compelled to give the production company it's own thread where it can all be posted in a more appropriate place.

I give it 20 mins before this thread dissolves into a Kathleen Kennedy bashing thread.

1. The prequels are underrated.
2. Revenge of the Sith is the greatest Star War movie of all time.
3. The Last Jedi was an abomination.
4. Solo deserved a slightly better box office result, but was still a pointless movie.
5. The Clone Wars is the best animated show of all time.
6. The Clone Wars revival is pure fan service. The reality is that many story lines got pushed into Rebels so we never got the real Clone Wars ending we deserved.
7. Kathleen Kennedy needs to go.
8. Getting rid of the old canon was a huge mistake and spat in the face of their most loyal fanbase.
9. Not using George Lucas for the story treatments of the sequel trilogy was a huge mistake. Nobody knows Star Wars better than George.

Good, it's been a while since someone started another Star Wars thread. I was getting worried.

Let me try and curve this.

Any one remember any of Lucasfilm's lesser known movies like Tucker, Red Tails or even Radioland Murders?

I saw a little of Red Tails. Pretty iffy CGI.

I’m sad Strange Magic did bad enough in theaters for Disney to dump it on DVD only.

Red Tails had potential but it was a bit of a letdown despite some neat action sequences.

I totally forgot that that movie even existed.

I loved Red Tails and quite enjoyed Strange Magic (the lack of BD for which is annoying).

Tucker is one of the few I haven’t seen, but it has a BD coming out at the end of August apparently, so I’ll hopefully be getting that. Need to see Radioland Murders too.

I watched a bit of Labyrinth again the other day, what a marvellous film, especially the Escher-stuff at the end. RIP Bowie.

When I finally saw Howard the Duck I enjoyed it a lot, possibly because my expectations had been lowered so much by its reputation. I can see why some dislike it though, it is pretty odd.

Young Indiana Jones proved to me (just IMHO) that a)Harrison Ford is the best but b)other actors can inhabit his roles and do just fine. And if they can for him, I see no reason why other Lucasfilm characters can’t be re-cast at some point. As long as it’s handled well. Can’t wait to see Indy V.

How about another Willow film please?

Those ‘Star Wars’ things sound interesting, I should definitely check them out...

Tucker was a great watch when I was a kid. Not so great when I rewatched it as an adult.

Without Harrison Ford, there is not Indiana Jones. Solo should teach Disney a lesson here. Ford is not replacable.

The Lord of the Rings Ripoff known as Willow is entertaining.

Howard The Duck has duck boobs in it.

Ahem, one of the blu-ray.com Muppet Experts™ is here to point out that Labyrinth is not a Lucasfilm production just because GL served as executive producer. Jim Henson and Brian Froud take offense.

You may now commence Willow discussion as a suitable replacement.

Default STAR WARS and AMERICAN GRAFFITI

I read somewhere online that the original STAR WARS from 1977 was restored and remastered in 4K, but there was no indication that it was either the original theatrical version or the special edition.

Also, this year is the 45th anniversary of AMERICAN GRAFFITI (1973), which I think is a pretty good movie. I saw there was a DCP (digital cinema package) of the film at Park Circus, but I don't know if it's a 2K or 4K restoration.

Does anyone know about this info, if it's true or not, that is (like which version of STAR WARS was 4K-remastered, and what kind of DCP AMERICAN GRAFFITI is)?

Well this thread will definitely be civil. Anyway, The Last Jedi is the best Star Wars movie AND the best film that Lucasfilm has ever put out. That is all.
