White Fire (aka Vivre pour Survivre) (1985) Coming From Arrow!

Looks like Jean-Marie Pallardy's 1985 Action/Adventure flick starring Robert Ginty and Fred Williamson is coming to Blu-ray from Arrow Video! Didn't know anything about this flick before the appearance of a postcard in my copy of The Prey but after reading up on it on IMDB I absolutely cannot wait to check it out. Was this even hinted at?

If this is happening its a really great news indeed!!! It's been on my wish list since the dawn of the format. Robert Ginty is one of my favorite '80s actors of all time. Just love the guy. Isn't the year when the film was made 1984 rather than '85...?

Absolutely love the original "chainsaw" poster from the movie.

Remember seeing this years ago, it's a great example of 80's entertaining & inane drivel with a terrific theme song. Highly recommended.

Anyone received theirs yet? I brought from arrow But the disc seems faulty. The menu screen doesn’t load properly and when I play the film or special features, I only get the audio, not the picture .

Just did some testing on an older Blu-ray player and another region free player,and had no issues with either the playback of the film (skipped around a bit and the movie played just fine on both players no freezing or anything) or any of the extra special features (interviews) everything seemed normal with my copy.

Thanks for checking - could be I just got a dud. Never had this particular problem with any other blu I’ve bought. It was rattling in the case when it arrived but I doubt that would cause this issue. More likely something went wrong when it was pressed, I guess.

Any thoughts on the release? The reviewer here trashed the disc but I have to wonder if they were viewing it threw a “so bad it’s good” flick or if they were comparing it to the Bourne Identity or something.

Anyway would love to get some genre fans perspectives on this disc and film as I create my shortlist for the next Arrow sale

The disc is decent. The booklet states that the HD master was supplied to Arrow by the licensor which is probably why its still looks a little grubby.

The film, yeah its quiet far out there and some of it is amateur hour when it comes to some of the fights its a good job Fred Williamson directed his own fight scene in the film. He's the best thing in it behind Ginty.
Its not asgood or as sleezy as The Exterminator, think of it as a Cannon Film along the lines of Death Wish 3 American Ninja but not made aswell. (not that Cannon films are all that well made)

Thanks for the input. I love American Ninja and DW3 is my favorite of the series so still on the fence about WF.

The trailer is what piqued my interest (along with my new found love of revisiting cheesy action films from my child hood; both newly discovered and ones I watched a long time ago).
