Default Sound & Fury - Netflix anime anthology - Sturgill Simpson

https://www.soundandfuryproject.com/

Simultaneous With The Release of His Much-Anticipated New Album of The Same Name
  • Grammy Award winning recording artist Sturgill Simpson is merging American rock music and Japanese animation in a revolutionary new way in SOUND & FURY, an anime film that is set to stream globally on Netflix this fall. The film is set entirely to music from Simpson’s forthcoming album, also called “SOUND & FURY,” which will be released simultaneously through Elektra Records. The film features a different anime segment for each individual song.
  • The announcement was made this evening by Sturgill Simpson at San Diego Comic-con on a panel with several of the filmmakers.
  • Produced by and based on a story by Simpson entitled “Sound & Fury,” the film was written and directed by Jumpei Mizusaki, founder of renowned CG animation studio Kamikaze Douga and director for the animated film Batman Ninja.
  • Takashi Okazaki, creator of Japanese manga series Afro Samurai, served as the film’s character designer.
  • Additional directors include Masaru Matsumoto of Grayscale Arts (Starship Troopers: Traitors of Mars), Michael Arias (The Animatrix), Henry Thurlow and Arthell Isom of D’Art Shtajio, and Koji Morimoto (Akira). Shunsuke Ochiai is co-executive producer.
  • “SOUND & FURY,” the album, was produced by Simpson and marks his first full-length release since 2016’s acclaimed “A Sailor’s Guide To Earth,” which won “Best Country Album” and was nominated for “Album of the Year” at the 59th GRAMMY Awards.

What a stupid title. It screams “we know Shakespeare so we’re geniuses!”

Is it? Maybe it just sounds cool and can work for what they want for this?

Ah lighten up, it's signifying nothing!

Not a fan of country music, but I like Sturgill Simpson. A Sailor's Guide to Earth was nothing short of amazing! I haven't listened to his new album yet, but I'll probably give this a watch once I do.

Hrmm.... I have no like or dislike for these films that play around w/ the medium to be something other than the norm.

Solid music. And love the visuals in here. I'll probably not watch it again but I did love the section w/ the Samurai going wild w/ the car. Visually and auditorily, I enjoyed that one the most. Overall, solid package w/ great music. Had a lot of fun w/ it.

Never heard of Simpson but seems like he's a guy I should check out based on what else I just just heard of his work.
