I'm a completist, so I'll probably get this. At least it should look nice even if the movie was mediocre(blame the crappy book for that).

The big question: Are the UV redemptions for these new 4K discs also UHD, or will they default to HDX? Considering the high price tag (for both disc and UV versions), this will entirely determine whether I go anywhere near 'em.

I would love for them to be the UHD version. But I would be very surprised if they are.

Very Very unlikely they will be UHD digital copies for various reasons.

1. The leading UV redemption site Vudu, just started UHD titles and are still not available for all TV suppliers.
2. I believe they will have to call the digital copy "UHD digital" (or something like that) to make it clear there is a difference between the two.
3. I also believe studios are hedging their bets and going with UHD digital copies for a much high dollar value than a 1080P copy so they would not include them with the disc.

One better reason, what would play them back

I just picked this up and since the first movie isn't out yet on UHD and I haven't seen it, can I watch this without having seen the other one and not be totally confused?

Interestingly the commentary track is both on the bluray and the UHD disc.

It should be. Doesn't take up much room and besides who would want have to resort to rewatching the movie on BD for the commentary after seeing the UHD?

Yes, this is the least thing FOX could do.

Theres not much actual story to it, so I don't think youll miss out on much, but the original is much more of why it is called "Maze Runner" - this one doesn't have any maze.
