Default Do you like Warner's "digibook" approach?

Whenever I see Warner's digibook BDs, I am impressed with the photos and booklet production, and think it makes a good keepsake for fans of the movie. Then I check out the forums and a lot of you seem to really hate these releases. I want to find out what kind of percentages like Warner's digibooks vs don't like it, so here's a poll. It doesn't include a "don't care" option, so please decide if you like digibooks or not.

I do like the digibooks, and I think Warner does a good job with them. Of course, I don't display my BDs in my living room for guests to see, so shelf asthetics are not important to me.

Personally, I just want a regular case, but I don't hate the digibooks either. I just wish they'd offer us a choice. Release the disc in both cases, like they do with the steelbooks.

Well, if you are going to make you choose, I guess I like them. I have three at the moment (Dirty Harry, Bonnie and Clyde & Poltergeist), and they sit there happily in the first three places on my shelf. The additional content is nice to have, but ultimately it is all still about the movie for me. Heck, if they sold BDs in those little paper envelopes you get driver CDs in I'd still be happy as Larry with the movie.

The ONLY reasons I don't like the digibooks (and I have 5 of them buy the way) are these:

- Size. If they just made them a bit closer to the size of the regular cases then I'd be happy. But these are taller AND have more depth. They stick out like a sour thumb. This bothers me mostly because I alphabetize my collection, so they are scattered throughout instead of sticking together. I don't like making exceptions to how I organize just because they are digibooks.

AND

- In addition to the size, there is no blue band on the top of the case binding. There is a Blu logo, but other than that they look like a special packaged DVD from a distance. I don't like that. Even Godfather added the blue band of color at the top of the case.

If they fixed those two gripes of mine, I would have no problem with them.

I like them alright, but I'm just sort of disappointed that Warner hasn't done much with the films to make them stand out as something more than just HD ports of exisiting films with SD extra features.

I am no fan of the digibook. They seem so 20th Century.

I would rather see this implemented digitally as a supplemental disk. Why not make it a real digital digibook so that we can look at it on our TV's?

I don't own one yet but from the look of them, I don't think I'd like them because they look like they get damaged easily.

Nope I hate them....if your a movie collector and a presentation purist and want your shelf to look as uniform as possible these digibooks screw it all up! Not to mention some of us are into custom covers that are so much better than the standard studio artwork.

I had to give in and get one today (Shawshank Redemption). If it wasn't for the fact that we are forced to get them, they would not be in my collection. I just could not pass up on Shawshank though.

Digibook isn't the term Warner uses anyway. Coffee table book is

Btw, I LOVE them.

I like 'em. The only gripe I have about them is they show wear and tear faster even if you're careful with them. Rubbing the bottom against the shelf when you take them out or put them away... or maybe it's because I'm just too strong. I'm gonna go pump some iron now.

I like them, but I do have one gripe. They should come in an outer sleeve to prevent the booklets from flopping open when placed on the shelf. Aside from that I think they are nifty.
