Release Date: 4th July 2016
Format: Blu-Ray + DVD Directed by: William A. Wellman Starring: Henry Fonda, Dana Andrews, Anthony Quinn Synopsis: One of Hollywood’s most prolific directors, William A. Wellman was responsible for more than 80 features and a string of masterpieces including Wings, the first film to win the Best Picture Oscar, The Public Enemy, which made a star of James Cagney, screwball classic Nothing Sacred, the original A Star is Born and this marvellous noir-inflected Western, The Ox-Bow Incident. Set in a small Nevada town where tensions are running high thanks to a spate of cattle rustling, things reach boiling point when cowboy Larry Kinkaid is murdered. With the sheriff out of town, the residents form a posse and head to Ox-Bow Canyon to find the three men they believe to be guilty – including Dana Andrews and Anthony Quinn in early major roles – and enact their own form of justice. A favourite of both Clint Eastwood and star Henry Fonda, who serves as the film’s moral centre, The Ox-Bow Incident is a tough, complex picture whose uncompromising starkness continues to astound to this day. It's already out but I don't see any review or comparison yet... I want to order it while the currency exchange rate is great, but also like to see how the Arrow looks, compared to the Kino, before ordering it.

Perhaps the review copies went out late. Strange we haven't had a review for Suture either, another disc that came out the same week as this that I'm interested in.
There will definitely be reviews coming up though, I'd imagine. Reckon the Arrow will be a better encode than the Kino at least, but definitely the same source. |

Also not sure the encode will really matter here (much like the 4K scan), the source just looks to lack fine detail probably due to the 2nd or 3rd generation surviving elements. |

I reviewed it https://psychotronicblog.wordpress.c...-bow-incident/ Arrow has changed press people since the leaving of the wonderful Marc Foley despite being a tory ;-). One of the other arrow people handled for the week inbetween and it's now been moved to fetch.fm so that may explain the delay.

Press releases / screeners are indeed sent less early than in the past (I guess it might also have to do with the current amount of releases made by Arrow). That was already the case with Marc but has obviously been amplified by his leaving and the new team being put up (with Louise serving as an overloaded temp replacement).
However, Ox Bow press release was sent last week, so reviews should start popping up pretty soon (depending on how busy are the reviewers). My Suture review went online last Saturday at Retro-HD, Satan's Blade and Killer Tomatoes will be up this Saturday, and most likely Swinging Cheerleaders and Ox Bow on Sat 16th. A note on Swinging Cheerleaders : it's a new 2K OCN restoration, and it looks quite good ! |

Does anyone know if the booklet included with this release was first pressing only? Typically this is stated in the release but I don’t see a reference to it. Was considering ordering and was curious if the inclusion was still a potential.
