I think it's down to the two Fox titles. I'm thinking KoH, but I'm obviously a little biased

I'm thinking KoH will have better PQ, because X-Men 3 might have been compressed more to fit all the 1080p extras and 6.1 DTS-ES HD MA track on it.

Anybody who's using 50GB disks, the new codecs, isn't using the same data on HD DVD disks, and has big expensive movies.

Fox or BV I guess.

X3 is using AVC and BD50. It's safe to say that the HD extras would also be in AVC. There's going to be some 10GB space left, I think.

Cinematography wise, both are quite grainy which is fine. While X3 has one general look, KOH has several to denote the geography of the story so it is not a simple comparison. Both should look great, in my opinion.

Mmmm I don't remember X-Men being grainy in the theatrical prints I saw. Is the DVD grainy? I should find a pic I have.. now where did I put that cd-rom?

It is definitely not a simple comparison, but I was keeping it simple. If Fox is using around the same bitrate Disney used on AVC encoded "Eight Below" (between 20-27Mbps), around 18-22Mbps for the 6.1 DTS-ES HD Master Lossless Audio track, and all the extras, I was thinking there might be a slight space issue.

BTW, that throughput, alone, is beyond the maximum throughput on HD-DVD. X-Men 3 is the movie that technically goes beyond the present and future ability of HD-DVD...period. Even if Fox went to the HD-DVD side (highly unlikely), this movie could not be transposed to HD-DVD as is (like Warner basically does for titles on both formats). It would have to be completely redone. If X-Men 3 isn't a big reason to go Blu-ray, then nothing is.
