Wow, I only saw A Fantastic Woman just a couple a months ago and already his next movie is in theaters/blu-ray? Was there some schedule delay that affected one or the other?

I liked this overall but felt it was too long and there were too many scenes that just bored me. So I thought it was good but had a lot of room for improvement. But I get that some people like this style, it just didn't work that well for me, for this movie.

But see, this is why a film like this needs some damned extras! Some of these things could be explained. Great freakin' film, though. |

Disobedience was an incredible film; I recently saw this on Blu for the first time. The two Rachels are gorgeous & had amazing chemistry together; and the acting was very natural. AN was also excellent as the rabbi who played RM's husband - I've seen him in other films, and barely recognized him here; he essentially disappeared into the role so well that he became the character he was portraying.
The love scene(s) between the two Rachels were extremely erotic without being at all explicit (and there was almost no skin in these scenes). This may not have worked as well in another type of film, but it was very appropriate here - well done. Liked the setting; the tight-knit Jewish UK community was realistically portrayed with everyone living close to each other in the same area, shopping @ the same neighborhood stores, etc. It's evident that the RW character left the community years before, almost certainly because she was either pressured to leave by her father (because of her attraction to the RM character), and/or because she felt it was the right thing to do re: not wanting to cause more tension/pressure in the community - given that everyone knew everyone else's business. I liked the ending - it was realistic, and mirrored what would happen in a real-life situation. [Show spoiler]

I agree, this is one of the best films of the year. And while that sex scene is one of the best sex scenes in the history of sex scenes, I would encourage people to view the film not based on that aspect. But if they do that's completely fine too. |
