Default Inside No. 9 (BBC 2014)

I've been enjoying this dark comedy series from half of The League Of Gentlemen. Psychoville never really started to come together until the second series and then the BBC cancelled it but Inside No. 9's standalone stories work much better and have excellent casts. Pick of the bunch so far is A Quiet Night In which has no spoken dialogue, a gag with the dog and the door was hilarious. Unfortunately it doesn't look like there's going to be a blu ray release

Great series. There has already been a second season confirmed.

Is this available on BBC iPlayer? If so, I'll look into getting a VPN to watch it.

Second series started last night with La Couchette, it's on iplayer for 29 days and it's very funny. It would be nice if they did blu rays for both series

A quick word for last night's 12 Days Of Christine. A complete change of mood for this episode which is one of the best things I've seen in a very long time. Superb performance from Sheridan Smith.

Same, I enjoyed it last night. It was quite heartbreaking, though. Very different to previous episodes.

Right, I'm behind on these but I just watched the third one (The Trial of Elizabeth Gadge). I really enjoyed this one, the Witchfinder aspect was excellent and the scene where the first person to laugh would be immediately accused was hilarious. I felt the only weakness was the ending - both twists were signposted a mile off, especially if you've seen other Shearsmith/Pemberton stuff.

David Warner was lots of fun in that episode and I liked the joke about selfies. The next pisode uses an usual viewpoint that works very well and the ending is utterly chilling. The most recent episode goes out of its way to point out the potential for disaster but ends with something rather sad and poignant. Unless the remaining episode is a disaster (which would surprise me) this series has been an absolute triumph. As it's had such favourable press I hope the BBC will continue with it instead of prematurely ending it like Psychoville.

Series Three is imminent for broadcast, here's a trailer currently running on the Beeb:

Happy to also hear that the series has already been commissioned for a fourth series:

Was reading something recently about Inside No.9, where Tales of the Unexpected was mentioned. Do any of the episodes have that Tales of the Unexpected feel to them?

Yep, though the twists are far better (and darker). Take the gentleman out of Roald Dahl that was holding him back and you probably get the idea. If you ever saw The League of Gentlemen it's the same sort of gruesome, black comedy but the scripting here is really very clever with the twists.

Thanks—not sure how reliable that is—may just be the default for Blu-ray entries. 2entertain seems to be a mixed bag when it comes to region coding--there didn't appear to be anything mentioned on the photos of the back of the discs. I ordered the first two seasons, will see what they are...unless someone replies with an answer based on testing the discs, then I'll try to cancel those before my order ships.

They'll be 1080i50 regardless of coding.

I don't seem to have any issues with 50hz playback with the Samsung UHD player/LG 4K TV, so that part won't be a problem. My order shipped, so whenever it arrives I'll post whether or not it works.
