Starting this as a complementary thread to Popcorn_Bliss' 1970s-2010s thread as I thought it'd be interesting to see everyone list their favorites from these decades, and I noticed several posters were already doing so in the other thread.
I excluded the 1910s as I have a feeling not many of us have seen much of anything from that decade (I regrettably haven't, but do intend to remedy that), but if you want to include the '10s in your list you're welcome to do so. You're also obviously free to exclude the '20s if the silent era as a whole is a big blind spot for you. My picks: 1920s - The Phantom Carriage 1930s - The Bride of Frankenstein 1940s - Out of the Past 1950s - Vertigo 1960s - Lawrence of Arabia |

1910s -- The Birth of a Nation
1920s -- The Passion of Joan of Arc 1930s -- Gone With The Wind 1940s -- Citizen Kane 1950s -- Hiroshima mon amour 1960s -- Contempt I know that these aren't the most avant garde choices, but there's absolutely no other choices I could have made. These are easily six of the greatest films ever made, IMO. |

![]() Quote:
![]() I probably chose Hiroshima because it's the one of the two that I've most recently seen. |
