I dont get it, I was at dvdtown.com and there were alot of people saying pretty much the negatives we say about hddvd. They were saying stuff like they will be able to continue to update since they have internet capibilities and how their movies look just as good as ours. They mentioned something about 1.1 or 2.0 will not be compatible. What does that mean. they were saying that people with 1.0 blu ray players are going to be forced to buy new ones. They were also saying how they have more market share. I use a ps3 for my movies so i get my updates online. I am tru blu and have been informing alot of people and got a few to buy the ps3 as the next gen gaming and movie machine. I know bluray is kiccking ass but this war is not over untill toshiba and the other backers officially give up. It is kind of like baseball, untill its a final score, the games not over. I try not to be biased when giving info but facts and numbers and stuff like that.
Anyway, I am new to this forum( ive been reading for awhile but am just now replying) and hope this shit ends soon. I want transformers on bluray already>>> |

if it's like baseball... it's like Blu is leading 85 to 15 and it's the bottom of the 9th, and Blu is at bat. Called game.

Yeah, the HD DVD camp doesn't have much going for it. The different revisions of Blu-ray involve different levels of interactivity, including picture-in-picture and internet interactivity. Those don't matter to 99% of film aficionados, so if HD DVD adopters are hanging their hopes on that, they are in for a rude awakening. But their argument sounds impressive to people who don't know better.

you have been a victim of FUD,let me show you...
1. yeah they can update thier firmware over internet eventually that'll dry up when HD-DVD has no support due to lack of sales. 2. 1.1 and 2.0 from my understand work perfect on a 1.0 players just no PiP or internet functitonality but as far as watching the movies goes, should be an issue. infact at whatever time a person with a 1.0 player upgrades it'll add new life thier the movies with thier extras. 3. they don't have more market share. HD-DVD'ers tend to do group think, some one comes up with new FUD to spread and they all hold on to it as if it was scripture. I firmly believe that we are at the stage where the end of this format war is near and HD-DVD will be no more. |

thats the thing, most people do not know what hddvd or bluray is. So to the average joe hddvd sounds better because of some features. Blu ray is not inferior in any way and pisses me off when people say it. With todays movies and quality of things, a bluray disc makes more than coomon sense to use for the future. for those who said that PS3 would not help or count in the war are really starting to eat their words. Sony DID take a huge gamble with making the ps3 bluray based and alot of critics said that sony would lose that gamble and it would ruin their video game area. The ps3 , in my opinion, is what is really going to be the decider in this war. Critics underestimated the amount of movies gamers would buy. Now if anime comes out on bluray( i have yet to see any) then that is just another demographic that would REALLY help.

They have been drinking pure delirium. With such a strong market presence that even the press can no longer deny, Blu-ray has pretty much conquered the HD scene and has been unofficially announced as the crowned king. They are spouting FUD without doing their homework.

Yeah, since we've basically 'won' already, theyve come to just straight out lying about things. People will do desperate things in the throes of death.
First they say Bluray is bad because it is incomplete, and needs updating. And HDDVD is a final standardized format. So we took that as saying they are complete and will NEVER evolve, while Blu-ray has the capability to only get stronger! SO now that we win, their story changes? All their player ave ethernet ports... first argument was was that it was for bonus content and interactivity. So we kicked their butts while they were touting that feature, so now it conveniently changes to a new reason? Firmware updates, that a couple months ago, they never needed? Because "HDDVD is a complete solid product"? What a joke! And the biggest thing out there now is the "Only PS3s get firmware updates" which is a joke. A good number of players can get updates. A couple cant. A couple first-run devices not 'finalized' in completion has been an issue with early adopters for years with all sorts of devices. |

Think of it this way. HD-DVD just lost 50% of its sales in one week. How good does that sound?

It's like that german soldier in "Saving Private Ryan". When they caught him and made him dig his own grave... he was like, "I like america..." and starting singing the star spangled banner... i say can you see, i say can you see... that's how HD-DVD folks are right now.

I knew I would be reassured. It just pisses me off that some of these hddvd fanboys may actually convince people to buy it and it could make a comeback. Untill this whole thing is over, there is a slight worry in the back of my mind. Toshiba is about to come out swining real hard with their advertising blitz. 32 million people saw their commercials last night while watching idol. Bluray needs to counter with thier ad blitz. It would really suck if they started to make a comeback. Like I said, it is not over yet and hddvd is going to do whatever it takes to get people on their side. Sony and the rest of the bluray camp better not get too cocky yet. GO BLU

It also doesn't help when retail stores are spreading misinformation. I was at Costco on Saturday and some lady was admiring the HD-DVD's and when I reached for a Blu Ray, she told me that I was going with the wrong format. Apparently a Costco employee told her that not only was HD-DVD winning this war, but a couple of studios were preparing to go neutral. When I asked her which ones, she said Disney was the biggest one.
Since I didn't feel like arguing with her, I went on my way. I would have thought the Costco employees should know better, especially since there's a huge BLu Ray player display at the front of the store I shop at. Maybe they didn't get the memo. |

Honestly, I think some HD DVD guys like jerking your chains, and, to be blunt, it doesn't seem like they have a hard time doing it. They know it's over, but they're a little bitter about being on the losing side, so they post "HD DVD is winning the format war" and stand back and watch a bunch of Blu-ray fans go all atwitter.
I'd suggest either ignoring them, or calmly refuting them with facts. And if you want to win over any fence sitters, leave the juvenile "HD DUD", "HD DEAD", "red ants", "ToSHITba", etc., insults behind. |

IMO, this is a good thing. As of 12/04, only 30% of HD DVD users even bothered with the online extras [link]. It doesn't seem to be the must-have feature for next-gen DVDs. |
