I asked Turbine about that. They ported over the DVD menus.

A question for anyone who's familiar with these movies.

Turbine's website lists English 2.0 audio but no English subtitles.

Any thoughts on how worthwhile this release would be for someone who typically prefers to watch original language with subtitles?

I'm OK with special features and the book not being English friendly. Just curious if anyone has thoughts on if the features would be worth watching with the English dub.

Hm... from the learning point watching a german movie with english subtitles doesn't make really sense. I would prefer watching the german movies with german subtitles. - The same as I do when Im watching english spoken movies. Im using english subtitles instead of german ones

I now received the boxset. As I found out now, only Part 2 has an English dub. Part 1 doesn't.

I can't speak or read German, and I'm not trying to learn.

I'm just interested in being able to follow the story without a terrible English dub ruining the whole thing.

But as TheHutt just pointed out, it seems irrelevant anyways if the first one doesn't have any English language option.

well.. it's irrelevant to get this movie then for you. It might be dumb movie without understanding the dialogue as it has a lot dialogue-gags and it's a parody of the 1960's Edgar Wallace movie-series. you might missing a lot gags.
